Dan Pahos is the owner of the Birmingham Home Instead Senior Care franchise. After dealing with long distance elder care issues, while taking care of his parents in MN, Dan decided to resign from his industrial supplies sales position and start up the first Home Instead Senior Care franchise in the state of Alabama. Andrea Martin has been with Home Instead Senior Care since January 2009. She has been working in the senior care industry for almost 14 years. She grew up in Tuscaloosa and graduated from the University of Alabama in 2006. While at Alabama she met her husband Will Martin. They were married in May 2007. When Andrea is not working, she loves spending time with her daughter Olivia, and her twins, Harper & William.
Charlotte Fisher has been a receptionist with Home Instead Senior Care since May 2005. She lives in the Homewood area and was educated in Birmingham. She has been married for over 30 years and has three children and five grandchildren, which includes a set of twins (Darnecia and Darnell). She enjoys Bible reading, collecting Bible history, concerts, and old movies. Years of working with people has been a true joy for Charlotte. Soon after becoming a part of the Home Instead Senior Care family, Charlotte received the PEOPLE's Award!
Matthew has been with Home Instead since 2009, first as on-call staffing coordinator and now he is the on-site staffing coordinator team. Matthew has three children that keep him busy. His oldest son is in an officer in the Army. His other two children live locally. Matthew is a proud "Pappi" to his sweet granddaughter, Tilli. In his spare time, Matthew enjoys watching movies and Alabama football.
Coretha Smith joined Home Instead Senior Care in 2009 as a Staffing Coordinator. She resigned in 2011 to further her education where she attended Faulkner University and obtained her graduate degree, Masters of Science in Management in 2012. In August 2015, she rejoined our team as On-Call Staffing Coordinator. Coretha has two beautiful daughters, Destinee and Renardia. She enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and vacationing at the beach.
After serving in the military for eight years, she returned to Birmingham to work in the Worker's Comp field. She came to work as our On-Call Staffing Coordinator in July 2015. She enjoys spending time with her family, including her two nieces, volunteering with the Shelby County Humane Society and back country hiking.
Jeanelle Huggins has been with Home Instead Senior Care since March 2006, first as Staffing Coordinator and then as the Director of Client Services & Staffing. She grew up in the Atlanta area and settled in Birmingham after graduating from Samford University in 1996. Jeanelle loves being an aunt to her 11 nieces and nephews whom she enjoys visiting and spoiling. She loves singing in her church choir and spending time with family and friends. When not at work, she enjoys reading, eating chocolate (she eats that at work too), playing with her dog, and being a respite foster mom to babies through a local non-profit agency.
Megan grew up traveling the world as an "Air Force Brat". She spent much of her childhood in Edmond, OK. She attended Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN. Megan has worked in case management for many years. Megan is married to Josh and they have two children, Wilson and Millie. In her free time, Megan enjoys hiking, cooking, baking, going to the beach and attending Atlanta Braves games.
Susie has been with Home Instead Senior Care since December 2014 as a part-time Client Service Coordinator. She spends her time with new clients, conducting quality assurance visits, and dementia training with new CAREGivers. She was a hospice nurse for 12 years and feels that experience has given her a heart for working with seniors. She is married to an Internist and they have two children. Her sons each have a child, so their favorite thing is spoiling grandchildren. Susie is a Parish Nurse at FBC Pell City, and is always looking for volunteers to join her medical mission trips to Africa.
Burdette Payne joined Home Instead Senior Care in July 2017 as Service Inquiry Specialist. He grew up in Akron, Alabama, and graduated from The University of Alabama. Before joining Home Instead, Burdette spent over 30 years in health care management, as the business manager of a medical clinic. In his free time, he enjoys movies, attending the theatre, and cooking for family and friends.
Julie began working at Home Instead Senior Care in September 2018 as a part time Client Services Coordinator. She makes home visits to new and existing clients and educates new caregivers on hospice, Parkinson's disease and home care skill development. Julie has been a nurse for over thirty years, with most of her career spent in home health and nursing education. She graduated from Clemson University with a BSN, then received her MSN from the Medical College of Georgia. In her spare time, she enjoys running, gardening, traveling, and visiting with family.
Jill Ballinger has been with Home Instead Senior Care since January 2005. She started out as the receptionist and is now working in Human Resources. She and her husband Chad have been happily married since 2005. Jill has two young sons, Jackson and Camden, and a little girl named Brooklyn. When she is not working, Jill enjoys going to the movies with her husband, and spending time with her children.
Dot has been employed by Home Instead Senior Care since 2005, working in various capacities. She grew up in Florence, Alabama and graduated with a degree in Public Relations from The University of Alabama. She has been employed in the Birmingham area since 1980. Dot and her husband, Jim, have two children. She enjoys spending time with her kids who are way too grown-up as well as activities that promote fitness and health.
Katie Cochran has been with Home Instead Senior Care since February 2010 as Director of Marketing and Sales. She has been working in the medical geriatric community for over 16 years. She grew up in Florence, Alabama and moved to Birmingham after graduating from the University of North Alabama. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing with her dogs and spending time at the lake or beach. Most importantly she loves hanging out with her niece and nephews. Katie is a Certified Readmission Prevention Professional, as recognized by the National Readmission Prevention Collaborative.
Jay Jones joined the Home Instead staff in February of 2013. With over 30 years of healthcare experience including 20 years of physical rehabilitation, he has been active in new business development for numerous national companies. A graduate of the University of Arkansas, he is very active in the Episcopal Church and Cursillo in Alabama. He is married to Kathryn Jones, an artist who creates religious greeting cards and water color prints. Jay is a Certified Readmission Prevention Professional, as recognized by the National Readmission Prevention Collaborative.
