Dan Pahos, Franchise Owner

​Dan Pahos is the owner of the Birmingham Home Instead Senior Care franchise.  After dealing with long distance elder care issues, while taking care of his parents in MN,  Dan decided to resign from his industrial supplies sales position and start up the first Home Instead Sen​ior Care franchise in the state of Alabama. Home Instead Senior Care has positioned itself to be the premier home care company for the elderly and disabled in the Birmingham area.  For more information on Dan, please click here


Stacey Brooks, Director of Finance

Stacey Brooks, Director of Finance Stacey Brooks has been with Home Instead Senior Care since February 2004 as Director of Finance.  She was born and raised in the Birmingham area.  She and her husband have three children.  Most of her time outside of work is spent taking care of her busy family.  Stacey enjoys traveling with her family and going to the movies.  Stacey and her husband are constanty entertating a group of kids from church.​​

Andrea Martin, Director of Operations

Andrea Martin, Director of Operations

​Andrea Martin has been with Home Instead Senior Care since January 2009. She has been working in the senior care industry for almost 10 years. She grew up in Tuscaloosa and went to the University of Alabama and graduated in 2006. While at Alabama she met her husband Will Martin. They were married in May 2007. When Andrea is not working, she loves spending time with her daughter Olivia, her twins, Harper & William, going to the beach and lake, cooking and baking! ​


Katie Cochran, Director of Marketing

Katie Cochran, Director of Marketing

​​Katie Cochran has been with Home Instead Senior Care since February 2010 as Director of Marketing and Sales. She has been working in the medical geriatric community for over 13 years. She grew up in Florence, Alabama and moved to Birmingham after graduating from the University of North Alabama. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing with her dogs and spending time at the lake or beach. Most importantly she loves hanging out with her niece and nephews. Katie just recently met the requirements to become a Certified Readmission Prevention Professional, as recognized by the National Readmission Prevention Collaborative.​


Jeanelle Huggins, Director of Client Services & Staffing

Jeanelle Huggins, Director of Client Services & Staffing

​Jeanelle Huggins has been with Home Instead Senior Care since March 2006, first as staffing coordinator and then as the Director of Client Services & Staffing​. She grew up in the Atlanta area, but she decided to stay in Birmingham after graduating from Samford University in 1996. Jeanelle loves being an aunt. She has 8 nieces and nephews whom she enjoys visiting and spoiling. She loves singing in her church choir and spending time with family and friends. When not at work, she enjoys reading, eating chocolate (she eats that at work too), playing with her dog, and being a respite foster mom to babies through a local non-profit agency.


Jennifer Ronson, RN Client Services

Jennifer Ronson, RN Client Services

Jennifer Ronson has been working for Home Instead Senior Care since October 2008 as a Client Service Representative.  As an RN for Home Instead Senior Care, she teaches training classes for the CAREGivers in the our training lab. She is a native of Atlanta, GA where she worked as a trauma nurse at Grady Memorial Hospital for 10 years. When Jennifer is not working, she enjoys cooking, photography and spending time with her four beautiful daughters who keep her extremely busy.


Michel Edwards, On-Call CAREGiver

Michel Edwards, On-Call CAREGiver

​Michel has four children who are young adults, three girls and one boy. She also has two grandchildren who she adores. She loves her Lab named Happi. Michel loves what she does. At Home Instead she is the on-call CAREGiver. She works in the office and is responsible for several duties when she is not in the field with a client. Michel has over thirty years experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant, and has enjoyed every moment! Michel enjoys volunteering and outdoor activities.​​


Jill Ballinger, Recruitment Coordinator

Jill Ballinger, Recruitment Coordinator

​Jill Ballinger has been with Home Instead Senior Care since January 2005.  She started out as the receptionist and is now working in Human Resources.  Her and her husband Chad have been happily married for 8 years.   Jill has two little boys, Jackson and Camden, and a little girl named Brooklyn. When she is not working, Jill enjoys going to the movies with her husband, and spending time with her children.​​


Dot Johnston, Retention Coordinator

Dot Johnston, Retention Coordinator

​Dot has been employed by Home Instead Senior Care since 2005, working in various capacities. She grew up in Florence, Alabama and graduated with a degree in Public Relations from The University of Alabama. She has been employed in the Birmingham area since 1980. Dot and her husband, Jim, have two children. She enjoys spending time with her kids who are way too grown-up as well as activities that promote fitness and health.​​​


Charlotte Fisher, Receptionist

Charlotte Fisher, Receptionist

​Charlotte Fisher has been with Home Instead Senior Care since May 2005 as Receptionist.  She lives in the Homewood area and was educated in Birmingham.  She has been married for over 30 years and has three children and five grandchildren, which includes a set of twins (Darnecia and Darnell).   She enjoys Bible reading and collecting Bible History, concerts, and old movies. Years of working with people has been a true joy for Charlotte.  Soon after becoming a part of the Home Instead Senior Care family, Mrs. Fisher received the PEOPLE's Award!​


Janet Wallace, Staffing Coordinator

Janet Wallace, Staffing Coordinator

Janet Wallace has been with Home Instead since 2012, has an extensive background in the senior care industry as director of assisted living facilities, and comes from a long line of caregivers in her family. She has a passion for serving the elderly and their families by helping them maintain as much independence as possible. She takes pride in being a “matchmaker” by finding the best possible caregiver for each client.

Janet has two daughters and three teenage grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoys playing bridge, cooking, theater, and traveling (especially cruising).​


Jay Jones, Home Care Consultant

Jay Jones, Home Care Consultant

​Jay Jones joined the Home Instead staff in February of 2013. With almost 30 years of healthcare experience including 20 years of physical rehabilitation, he has been active in new business development for numerous national companies. A graduate of the University of Arkansas, he is very active in the Episcopal Church and Cursillo in Alabama. He is married to Kathryn Jones, an artist who creates religious greeting cards and water color prints.​​ Jay just recently met the requirements to become a Certified Readmission Prevention Professional, as recognized by the National Readmission Prevention Collaborative.

Michelle Eastham, Staffing Coordinator

​​Michelle Eastham joined Home Instead in 2012  She moved to Alabama in 2001 with her husband Darby, and our twin sons Logan and Andrew. Michelle has worked in Home Health, Pediatrics, and trauma and now enjoy​s helping elderly and their families with their new transition of life. Michelle enjoys being with her family, friends and church family. She loves to do mission work here in the U.S and abroad.


Bootsie Pakeman, Receptionist

Bootsie Pakeman, Receptionist

Bootsie joined Home Instead in January 2014. She is the Receptionist in the morning and does our Insurance Billing in the afternoon. She was born and raised in Orange County, California. She attended the University of Southern California and worked for over 42 years in the Nursing and Staffing Field. She was married and had a son, who along with her husband are deceased.  She works with the Sick and Shut in Ministry and The Love in Action Ministry at Shades Mountain Baptist Church on Saturdays. When she is not working, she loves to cook and travel all over the world. She has one dog, a 2 lb. Yorkie Teacup named, Favor and a White Russian Turtle named Mr. Turtle. Her favorite quotes are "GOD is not finished with me yet." and "So bear with this old lady, Okay!!!".


Carrie Gitter, RN, Client Services Representative

Carrie Gitter, RN, Client Services Representative Carrie has been working for Home Instead Senior Care since May 2013 as a Client Service Representative.  As an RN for Home Instead Senior Care, she spends time with new clients doing home and client assessments as well as periodic quality assurance visits. She also teaches training classes for the new CAREGivers in our training lab. She worked as a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit nurse in the past and has spent the majority of her time in recent years raising her 3 children Ben, Jake and Allie.  She enjoys her family and friends when away from work.

Matthew Seals, Staffing Coordinator

Matthew Seals, Staffing Coordinator

​Matthew has been with Home Instead since 2009, first as on-call staffing coordinator and now he is the on-site staffing coordinator team. Matthew has three children that keep him busy. His oldest son is in an officer in the Army. His other two children are both in school. In his spare time, Matthew enjoys volunteering for Habitat for Humanity of Birmingham.  


Condoleeza Bell, On-Call CAREGiver

Condoleeza Bell, On-Call CAREGiver
​Condoleezza Bell has been working for Home Instead since June 2012 . She became part of the office staff February 2013 as the weekend on call caregiver .
She was born and raised in Birmingham Alabama . She started her career as a CNA in 1983 and has enjoyed every moment being around senior citizens . In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and hanging out with her son whenever he comes to town . Her hobbies are drawing , painting , knitting,reading, walking and occasionally working out.


Susie McClanahan, RN, Client Services

Susie McClanahan, RN, Client Services

Susie has been with Home Instead Senior Care since December 2014 as a part-time Client Service Coordinator. She spends her time with new clients, doing quality assurance visits, and some dementia training with new CAREGivers. She was a hospice nurse for 12 year and feels that experience has given her a heart for working with seniors. She is married to an internist and they have two children.  Her sons each have a child, so their favorite thing is spoiling grandchildren. Susie is a Parish Nurse at FBC Pell City, and is always looking for volunteers to join her medical mission trips to Africa.


Melanie Martin, Recruitment Coordinator

Melanie Martin, Recruitment Coordinator

​Melanie Martin has been with Home Instead Senior Care since November 2016. Melanie was born in raised in Birmingham Alabama and graduated from Florida State University where she was a member of the Florida State University Flying High Circus. After flying on the trapeze and walking the tight rope, she worked in her family business for over 15 years and then transitioned in to the hospitality industry before joining us at Home Instead. Melanie spends the majority of her time outside of the office with family and friends and raising her two children, Hayden and Aly who are her pride and joy. 


Coretha Smith, On-Call Staffing Coordinator

Coretha Smith, On-Call Staffing Coordinator

​Coretha Smith joined Home Instead Senior Care in 2009 as a Staffing Coordinator. She resigned in 2011 to further her education where she attended Faulkner University and obtained her graduate degree, Masters of Science in Management in 2012. In August 2015, she rejoined our team as Oncall Staffing Coordinator. Coretha has two beautiful daughters, Destinee and Renardia. She enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and vacationing at the beach.

​After serving in the military for eight years I returned to Birmingham and am currently working in the Workman’s Comp field as well as an On Call Staffing coordinator. I enjoy spending time with my family, including my two nieces, volunteering with the Shelby County Humane Society and back country hiking.​


H.I. Trainer

H.I. Trainer

H.I. is the in house training expert for Home Instead Senior Care. H.I. has given his life to helping our CAREGiver's learn by "hands on" training! His is definitely an expert in what he does. He is always the first person at the office in the morning and the last to leave--begging the question "does he ever go home?"  When he does leave the office, H.I. loves to ride around in one of the Home Instead cars, loves spending time at the beach and finding new accessories to make himself look a little less pale.
