Deb Lancaste, Client Care Coordinator

Deb Lancaste, Client Care Coordinator

Debra started with Home Instead® in December 2013 as a CAREGiver and joined the office team as a Client Care Coordinator in February 2016. She is responsible for helping clients and families determine their care needs, and manage the services provided to them by our CAREGivers. Deb's main focus is ensuring that our clients' needs are met, and the client and CAREGiver are developing a positive relationship.

Married to her husband Jim they share a love for their yellow lab, Sammy. Deb was raised in Cherry, but moved away for 20 years until 2011 when she was called home to care for her Dad with cancer. She always knew she was meant to live in this area and wanted to give back to her community. Deb's inner passion is to help others. Deb enjoys spending time with her husband and family, and her favorite pastimes include walking and scrapbooking.

Deb started caregiving when she was 10 years old for an elderly neighbor woman named Toots. Toots was afraid of thunderstorms and became very anxious during a storm. Deb took the initiative to care for her and would promote a return to tranquility. For Deb, this was her starting point of a much larger calling. "To us, it's personal' relates to me on a personal level. Being a family caregiver for my Dad, I am compassionate and realize the daily struggles that our clients' families face, but also how comforting it can be to accept help from other people that care."

Client Care Coordinator - Alexa Rain

Alexa Rain, Client Care Coordinator

Alexa joined Home Instead® as a CAREGiver and was then promoted Client Care Coordinator. She earned her Bachelor’s in Social Work from Olivet Nazarene University and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree. Alexa is excited to (almost) be done with school forever.

From a young age, Alexa knew she wanted to work in a job that helped others. Children and older adults have always found a special place in her heart. This led her to volunteer experiences in local youth groups and intentional one-on-one conversations and outings with elderly friends and family members. “In today’s world it’s common for people to be overlooked” Alexa said, “especially kids and seniors. We live in such a fast-paced, ‘all-about-me’ society, and those who do not fit into our ideal schedule get pushed to the side. In Western culture older adults are not valued the way they should be. I want to do my part in making sure they know that they are cared for, loved, and appreciated. They are just as important as everyone else and deserve the best kind of companionship and care.”

Alexa is also passionate about her family (including her elderly Bichon Frise, Misha), Netflix, and reading entire books in one sitting. While reading may be her go-to activity on a normal day, traveling is her all-time favorite thing to do. She has been to Haiti, South Africa, Uganda, and is currently planning a tour of Europe. “The world is full of so many beautiful people and sights; I want to encounter them all.”

Alexa works predominately out of our Morris location and will be serving clients from Ottawa to the eastern edge of our service area.

Service Coordinator - Cindy Penna

Cindy Penna, Service Coordinator

Cindy joined Home Instead with an extensive background in Home Health and Home Care scheduling. Cindy has been a Certified Nursing Assistant since 2001. "I have had other jobs over the past 20 years but have come back to Health Care as it is my true passion. I knew at an early age I wanted to help people in some fashion when I got older.  I took care of my grandparents who both had Alzheimer's.  I also helped some friends and neighbors with their family members when needed."

She currently resides in Serena on a 2.5-acre farm with her husband of 10 years and their numerous chickens, goats, ducks, 2 black labs/shar pei mix puppies named Dixie Mae and Dash. Cindy has 2 grown sons, and 2 stepdaughters.  "I have been blessed with 6 wonderful grandchildren."

In her free time, she enjoys reading, doing puzzles, and playing games of any kind. She is an AVID CUBS fan and tries to go to Wrigley Field at least once a year to catch a game. Otherwise, she watches as many games on TV as she can.  "Most of all I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren, doing art projects, feeding the animals on the farm, and just about anything we can do together."

As the mother of three children and three grandchildren, Angela and her husband are busy watching their youngest son play college baseball, playing with their dogs Max and Casey, and spending time being Grandparents.

Angela spent twenty years in a corporate setting, yet always remembering how close she was to her grandmother, Gloria, and wanting to do something more personal to honor her memory. "I did not realize the impact my grandmother made on me until I was older and wish I would have known what a treasure the Seniors in our life really are.
