Honoree Christina ‘Is Dedicated, Flexible, Compassionate’
On a hot August day in West Texas, franchise co-owners Lorena and William Shensky, and Recruitment and Engagement Advisor Rozephyr Jean nodded in affirmation: Christina Wilson was their Care Professional of the Month at Home Instead® of San Angelo, Texas.
Christina’s honor carries a lot of weight in Tom Green County because Home Instead is an award-winning in-home senior-care company serving seniors in a county that is home to about 21,500 residents who are 65 and older. That is about 17.9 percent to 19.1 percent of the total county population. Christina and Home Instead are lessening the challenges for a number of those growing old and wishing to remain in their Concho Valley homes.
While announcing Christina’s Care Pro of the Month accolade, Rozephyr explained: “She was chosen as our Care Pro of the Month because she consistently demonstrates the dedication, flexibility and communication that make her an incredible asset to our Home Instead team. Christina is always willing to adjust her schedule and has stepped in to assist many different clients whenever needed.”
Among other considerations for achieving honored status, Christina has gone above and beyond the call of duty in more than just flexibility and communication. Empathy and compassion are considered for the award, as well as skill and wisdom for dealing with challenging situations. Christina embodies Home Instead’s guiding principles of “Build Trust, Take the Lead and Share Your Heart.” She is exceptional at her work with any client.
In addition to her strong companionship skills, Christina provides safety assurance, meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping, and transportation and errands. She offers personal assistance with eating, grooming, dressing, bathing, incontinence care, cognitive impairment, hospice and mobility support. By expertly doing so, Christina not only assists her clients, but helps the clients’ families eliminate worry, reduce stress and re-establish personal freedom.
All eyes in the Home Instead office have been on Christina’s assistance for her current regular client. “Most notably, Christina’s client has been able to significantly increase his level of function because of her capabilities, dependability and trust she has built with him,” Rozephyr pointed out. “Christina does an excellent job of keeping our Home Instead office staff members informed about her client’s conditions and any changes or concerns that arise.”
In addition to client care, Christina consistently utilizes appropriate documentation, completes her clock-in and clock-outs whenever possible and reports for Home Instead training sessions as expected, Rozephyr noted. Home Instead’s Care Pro training is extensive.
For instance, to build on their knowledge and experience, San Angelo’s Care Pros are offered the opportunity to increase their dementia-care skills by taking part in the Home Instead network’s one-of-a-kind training protocol. Home Instead’s Person-Centered Care Training for Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Dementias is recognized by the Alzheimer’s Association® for incorporating the evidence-based dementia-care practice recommendations in these topic areas: Alzheimer’s and dementia, person-centered care, assessment and care planning, activities of daily living, and behaviors and communication.
Rozephyr added: “Christina’s communication with our Home Instead office and commitment to providing dependable, high-quality care truly set her apart. Christina is an all-around amazing member of our Home Instead team. We are incredibly grateful for everything she does for our clients and our Home Instead office.”
