24-hour home care FAQs

Our process includes a clear handoff between Care Pros. The Care Pro currently with the client doesn’t leave until the next scheduled Care Pro arrives.

Information is also passed from one person to the next so the incoming Care Pro understands what has happened and what may be needed.

For Providence-area families arranging continuous care, those handoffs are an important part of maintaining coverage throughout the day and night.

A client may receive continuous care through two 12-hour periods or three 8-hour periods.

That means multiple Care Pros may support the same person over a 24-hour period. Our team coordinates those transitions and passes along relevant information between Care Pros so there’s continuity from one part of the day to the next.

Families often ask us this because reliability matters when a loved one can’t be left alone.

Our Providence team coordinates staffing when a callout occurs. Just as importantly, the Care Pro already providing support must remain with the client until the next person arrives. The 24-hour care process is designed to avoid simply leaving the client because a scheduled care period has ended.

Our office can typically begin care within 24 hours, although arranging a complete 24/7 schedule depends on the client’s needs and available staffing.

We’ll determine what level of assistance is required and coordinate the care team around that plan. For families facing a sudden change, our ability to move quickly can help shorten the gap between recognizing the need and getting support into the home.

Around-the-clock care involves substantially more scheduled support than occasional visits, so cost depends on the client’s needs and the continuous schedule being arranged.

For example, a typical local 24/7 schedule may consist of two 12-hour or three 8-hour periods each day.

We’ll review the care plan and schedule with your family. Our Cost of Care resource provides additional information about home care pricing.
