I hired Home Instead to care for my uncle who wanted to die at home. While our time with this agency was short, all of the caregivers were incredibly compassionate and attentive to all his needs. We had two people caring for him at all times and every one was willing to pitch in with household chores as well. I would happily use Home Instead again if the need arises.

Home Instead has been a lifesaver for our family. Assisting with care of my mother in law has been great ! My mother in law loves her caregiver, Dee. She asked if she could keep her. A big relief having Dee there while we are all working. Thank you H.I.

I give Melissa Ricci a 5 star because she is the best there is. She handles Roland to perfection. And she is so patient, so capable to do anything at all. She is our right hand. Just love having her here as our CNA. She is a perfect fit for us. Claudette

Helpful FAQs

Experience, caregiver preparation, reliability, and the ability to adapt as needs change are all worth asking about. Families have relied on our local Home Instead team for almost 30 years, and today we employ approximately 150 Care Pros.

Most of our Care Pros are CNAs, we operate our own CNA school, and our care team includes three nurses. We also provide transportation, which can be especially useful for older adults who need help getting to medical appointments, shopping, or activities while continuing to live at home.

Yes. Our Providence-area team can typically begin care within 24 hours.

Families don’t always have weeks to plan. A change in health, increasing memory loss, or a transition home can make support necessary quickly. We can build a customized care plan around what the person needs now, whether that’s personal care at certain times of day, transportation, companionship, dementia support, or more extensive assistance.

We have a strong presence in Providence, East Providence, North Providence, Cranston, Johnston, Pawtucket, Lincoln, and Cumberland, along with other communities across our Rhode Island service area.

After almost 30 years of serving local families, we understand how important home can be to older adults who are proud of their Rhode Island roots and want to preserve the routines, community connections, and independence they’ve built over a lifetime.

Our CNA school gives Care Pros an opportunity to continue developing their caregiving skills within our own organization.

Most of our approximately 150 Care Pros are CNAs. Initial CNA certification requires 120 hours of training, followed by 24 hours of continuing education every two years.

That commitment can also create growth within our team. One longtime Care Pro, Sandy D., chose after more than five years of caregiving to attend our CNA school so she could expand what she was able to do for clients.

Yes. Transportation is an important part of the support we provide locally.

Some older adults need a Care Pro to help them get to a doctor’s appointment. Others want assistance with shopping or simply getting out to a park. Transportation can be included alongside companionship and other home care services, helping clients continue participating in everyday life when driving or getting around independently has become difficult.

Dementia and Parkinson’s are two needs we see frequently in our Rhode Island communities.

All staff receive annual dementia training, and some have earned the Alzheimer’s Association’s essentiALZ® certification. Our community involvement also includes supporting the Alzheimer’s Association and Hope Alzheimer’s Center.

For Parkinson’s, our owner serves as Treasurer on the Board of the APDA Rhode Island Chapter, which Home Instead supports.

Yes. We have three nurses on staff, and our Client Care Manager is also our Director of Nursing.

That healthcare experience is part of a larger local team of approximately 150 Care Pros, most of whom are CNAs. It gives our office a strong foundation for coordinating home care when an older adult’s needs become more involved or change over time.

Yes. Home Instead was named a Providence Journal Top Workplace in 2025 and 2026.

For families choosing home care, the people behind the service matter. We’ve focused on creating an environment where Care Pros can develop their skills, including through our own CNA school, while building a team families can rely on.
