Thank you to Hospice of the Valley and Ms Helena Morgan, dementia educator from Hospice of the Valley’s Supportive Care for Dementia program, for providing a special ‘Dementia Moments’ community workshop at our beautiful new location in Sun City.
Together we are helping to enhance the lives of those living with dementia and their families.
The goal of the experience is to simulate the emotional experience of someone with dementia trying to perform in a normal world while living in a very different world with distorted perception and difficulty thinking. After the experience, participants share their thoughts and feelings. They discuss what might have helped them perform the tasks better and learn some approaches to minimize the distress of people living with dementia.
