Yes. Dementia is a common care need among the Rhode Island families we serve, and having another Care Pro involved can give a family caregiver time for work, appointments, errands, or rest.
All staff receive annual dementia training, and some have earned the Alzheimer’s Association’s essentiALZ® certification. Care Pros use patience and redirection when memory loss makes everyday routines more challenging.
Yes. Respite doesn’t need to mean an entire day away.
A Care Pro could help with a morning routine, shower assistance several days each week, or another specific period when the family caregiver needs support.
Most of our Care Pros are CNAs, and our Providence Home Instead team can build the schedule around the particular times help is most useful.
Yes. Transportation can be incorporated into the care plan.
Depending on the client’s needs and interests, a Care Pro might help with shopping, transportation to an appointment, or an outing to a park. That gives the older adult companionship and practical assistance while the family caregiver has time for other responsibilities.
Our local team can typically begin care within 24 hours.
That can be useful when a family caregiver realizes they need help sooner than expected. We’ll learn about the older adult’s needs and routines and build the respite schedule around the support the family actually needs.
