Jane Downing – Owner & Operations Manager

Jane Downing – Owner & Operations Manager Jane grew up in a family where caregiving for family and friends in the local community was part of everyday life. It is this model of caregiving that Jane is dedicated to creating and sustaining with her staff as they work with families in Northeastern Connecticut. Jane is a hands-on member of the Home Instead Senior Care team, meeting with families to discuss their needs, visiting with clients to assure their satisfaction with services, assisting with staff coordination, processing payroll and invoicing, and, more generally, managing all aspects of the day-to-day efforts. Jane has a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Maryland-College Park. She worked in the field of education for over 10 years before opening the Northeastern Connecticut office of Home Instead Senior Care. When not working, Jane enjoys time with her family, running (including marathons), and playing the piano. Jane is a member of the National Private Duty Association and is a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA)®.

Kashmir Rai - Administrative Assistant

Kashmir Rai - Administrative Assistant

Kashmir joined the Home Instead Senior Care team in November 2015 as the Administrative Assistant. In this role she works closely with all the other team members and assists them with administrative functions. Kashmir graduated with a law degree from Thames Valley University (UK) and has a legal/banking background with over 13 years’ experience in customer service in the finance industry. Coming from a culture where living in an extended family is common, Kashmir appreciates the importance of caring for the elderly. She joined the Home Instead Senior Care office because of its model. In her spare time Kashmir loves to reading, traveling to and learning about other cultures, doing Sudoku puzzles, gardening and going to the movies.

Dana Maranos - Recruitment Coordinator

Dana Maranos - Recruitment Coordinator

Dana joined Home Instead Senior Care in July 2017 as the Recruitment Coordinator.  She is responsible for all aspects of recruitment, including recruiting, screening, hiring, and onboarding a staff of CAREGivers to provide the highest quality service to clients.  She is responsible for ensuring that all employees are adhering to policies and procedures set in place to provide consistent, reliable service to clients.

Dana has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a Concentrate in Human Resources Management. She comes to us with over twenty years of Human Resources experience in many different industries, including healthcare.

She joined the Home Instead Senior Care office after caring for several ill family members.  Her experiences confirmed how important it is to provide a caring, supportive environment to those in need.

In her spare time, Dana loves to be with her husband and two teenage daughters, as well as other family and friends, enjoying each other’s company, preferably with great food involved.

Karen Johnson – Retention Coordinator

Karen Johnson – Retention Coordinator Karen joined Home Instead Senior Care in December 2010 as a CAREGiver. Karen loves working with clients, listening to their life stories and making their lives as comfortable as possible. Karen then started working in the office in October 2012 to help with the Hours Reporting Line; she became a permanent fixture in March 2013 as one of the Recruitment and Retention Coordinators. In 2017, Karen transitioned to focusing solely on retention, as our Retention Coordinator. In this position, she enjoys working with our CAREGivers in an ongoing way to ensure the quality of their experience as part of our team. Prior to her work with Our office, Karen spent close to 20 years working in the finance fields of credit and collection. These experiences helped Karen develop skills to be detail oriented, systematic and able to work under pressure. Karen studied Retail Management at New Hampshire College. She is married and has two wonderful children. When not working, Karen enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking, fishing and enjoying the outdoors.​​

Bobbijoe Toth - Service Coordinator

Bobbijoe Toth - Service Coordinator

Bobbi first joined Home instead Senior Care in March 2014 as a CAREGiver. Her career in in-home care, however, began in 2007, when she earned her license as a Certified Nursing Assistant in 2007. Quickly proving to be an asset to Home Instead Senior Care through demonstrating her knowledge, compassion, and dedication to each of her clients, Bobbi was recognized for her efforts as CAREGiver of the month in June 2015. Bobbi transitioned into the office role of Service Coordinator in July of 2016, bringing with her 9 years of  professional field experience and a deep understanding of the needs of families and what it is to be a CAREGiver. As such, Bobbi is extremely well equipped for the responsibility of making the best matches between our CAREGivers and our clients, as well as maintaining the critical balance of meeting the needs of both. Outside of work, Bobbi spends her time mothering her wonderful daughter, who is no less the apple of her eye.

Deena Benoit - Client Care Coordinator

Deena Benoit - Client Care Coordinator

Deena first joined Home Instead Senior Care as a CAREGiver in June 2014. Deena grew up with a love of older adults, after spending countless hours with her grandparents and great-grandparents. As a graduate of the University of Connecticut, with a degree in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, she realized the need of quality care for older adults. Starting at Home Instead Senior Care as a CAREGiver in 2014, she quickly decided to pursue a career in serving older adults. After completing her Master’s Degree in Applied Gerontology in 2016, she realized she could be a greater help to older adults and applied for the position of Client Care Coordinator. Given the knowledge and experience Deena brought to the table, the decision to bring her on board as an administrative staff member was an easy one. Deena greatly enjoys going out to visit with our clients, and ensuring that they are satisfied with their care. The ability to work with families of older adults is near and dear to her heart, as she has experienced Alzheimer’s Disease in her own family and understands the difficulties that families face. For Deena, the joy that comes from being a resource to older adults and their families is unmeasurable.
