Ella ‘Goes Above and Beyond’ for Clients, Their Families
Ella Smithey didn’t just “hit the ground running” at her new job when she joined Home Instead® of San Angelo, Texas, three months ago, Ella was at a full sprint. When the calendar flipped to September, Ella was honored as the award-winning Home Instead franchise’s Care Professional of the Month.
Home Instead Engagement and Training Coordinator Rozephyr Jean said: “Ella is one of the newest members of our team, but she has quickly proved to be an exceptional Care Pro. From Day One, she has gone above and beyond – consistently stepping up to cover short-notice call-off shifts and doing so with a positive, can-do attitude. We are thrilled to recognize Ella as our Care Pro of the Month for September!”
Ella entered her Home Instead Care Pro position with a diverse caregiving background. The Angelo State University attendee, a native of Grandview, Texas, has certifications as a birth doula and childbirth educator. Ella also had gained senior-care experience. “When I was younger, before I lived in San Angelo, I worked for an older lady who had Alzheimer’s. At her home, I sat with her, visited with her, ran errands with her and cooked for her. After that, I worked in a memory-care facility for about nine months,” Ella recalled.
Then, earlier this year, Ella met a Home Instead Care Pro who had talked about how much she loved her job. “I thought I would really enjoy working for Home Instead since I had a background in caregiving, and I knew I would like one-on-one care,” Ella explained.
As a Home Instead Care Pro, Ella provides companionship safety assurance, meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping, and transportation and errands. Ella also offers personal assistance with eating, grooming, dressing, bathing, incontinence care, cognitive impairment, hospice support and mobility. By expertly doing so, Ella not only assists her clients, but helps their families eliminate worry, reduce stress and re-establish personal freedom.
Rozephyr pointed out that Ella embodies Home Instead’s guiding principles of “Build Trust, Take the Lead and Share Your Heart.”
Rozephyr added: “Ella’s reliability and dependability have not gone unnoticed, and the feedback from every client with whom she has worked has been overwhelmingly positive. Her dedication, professionalism and compassionate care make her an invaluable part of our team. Congratulations, Ella – your hard work and commitment truly set you apart!”
As Rozephyr noted, Ella truly is an important part of the Care Pro team at the San Angelo franchise, which is owned by Lorena and William Shensky. The West Texas office and its sister franchise in Midland-Odessa are members of a network comprised of Home Instead, Inc. and its parent company, Honor. With the world’s largest home-care network and the most advanced care platform, Honor and Home Instead are revolutionizing care for older adults, their families and Care Pros.
Home Instead’s employee scheduling policies are among the reasons there are more than 100,000 Care Pros working in 13 countries. “I love Home Instead’s flexibility. I love my clients, and I appreciate how friendly and employee-centric the company is,” Ella said.
