Mirror Image: Honoree Savannh Emulates Mom’s Compassion
Home Instead® franchise co-owners Lorena and William Shensky can thank Care Professional of the Month Savannh Moreno’s mother for being such a compassionate and empathetic role model who cared dearly for vulnerable seniors as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
“I grew up around professional caregiving because my mom was a CNA. When she went to work at her care community, she would take my sister and me with her, and we would paint the residents’ nails or do their hair. My sister and I learned you can do something seemingly so little, but it means so much to the elderly. Doing those things for seniors made me happy, so I knew I was meant for this line of work,” Savannh explained.
Fast-forward to April 2025, when Savannh joined Home Instead of San Angelo, Texas. Savannh “hit the ground running” because she is a CNA who previously had worked at a skilled nursing facility. “I found Home Instead through its in-person marketing. Home Instead staff members would come to the nursing home where I was working and explain how they did things with hopes they could interest some of us in part-time jobs if we needed them. It sounded like a dream job to me!” Savannh recalled.
Fast-forward again, this time to November 2025, when Savannh was honored as the Home Instead franchise’s Care Pro of the Month. Home Instead Engagement and Training Coordinator Rozephyr Jean said: “We are so pleased with Savannh because she has gone above and beyond the call of duty. Savannh consistently is stepping in to pick up short-notice shifts – often willing to go into overtime to ensure our clients receive uninterrupted, high-quality care.”
Rozephyr added: “Savannh works with multiple clients, earns frequent praise for her compassion and professionalism, and always responds promptly to messages and calls. Savannh embodies the Home Instead values in every shift she works. Describing her Care Pro position, Savannh said: “What I love most about Home Instead is that it’s both uncomplicated and fulfilling. One-on-one care obviously is a lot different than my previous job because I am not constantly rushing around from one senior to another. There is no quality time with seniors, and that kind of job tends to tax you physically and mentally, leaving you exhausted. I love the fact I get to do what I love in a more favorable setting. In most cases, I work at a client’s home, where they are most comfortable. The clients always feel loved and safe. Finally, I love how everyone cares about everyone else at Home Instead.”
The clients’ personalities are as different as the renowned colorful Concho Valley sunrises. “One of my clients, Mrs. B., is a firecracker, but that’s what I love about her. She will talk my ear off, which I love. She always wants to argue, but that’s OK, because she reminds me of myself. At the end of my shift, she always makes me feel appreciated and loved no matter the challenges she faces. I love how I can calm her down in a moment of frustration and make her laugh. She will forever be one of my favorites among my many memorable client experiences.”
