Honoree Allyson ‘Walked’ Into a Fulfilling Home Instead Job

A God thing? Serendipity? Coincidence?

Last summer, Allyson Walker was strolling along West Illinois Avenue in Midland, Texas, and noticed a group of business names on the white, vertical Trinity Professional Center sign. Listed as the third company from the top was “Home Instead.” That caught Allyson’s eye.

“Funny enough,” Allyson recalled, “I happened to walk past the building, noticed it and decided to look into the company. After learning more about Home Instead, I decided to apply. I already had previous experience working for a caregiving company as well as taking care of my papa, so caregiving was something with which I was familiar.”

Allyson added: “I enjoy being able to help others, especially older adults, and I wanted to continue working in that field. It's funny to think that something as simple as going for a walk led me to a new opportunity.”

Allyson started her training with Home Instead® of Midland-Odessa on July 14, 2026. Thirty-eight days later, on Sept. 21, 2026, Home Instead Recruitment and Engagement Advisor Rozephyr Lewis announced Allyson had been honored as the award-winning franchise’s September Care Professional of the Month.

“Allyson immediately made a positive impact on our Home Instead team. From day one, she has demonstrated she is a compassionate, professional, reliable and highly experienced caregiver,” Rozephyr said. “Allyson has quickly earned the trust and appreciation of the clients she serves. She is thorough at her work, pays close attention to detail and consistently ensures that she follows Home Instead policies and procedures. She also provides excellent communication and meaningful feedback regarding the clients in her care, helping ensure that our team remains informed and able to provide the best possible support.”

Rozephyr explained further: “Allyson is always willing to step up and help when needed. She regularly picks up additional shifts and even has traveled to rural areas to ensure that our clients receive the care and support they need. Most important, Allyson consistently goes above and beyond what is expected of her.”

Rozephyr’s effusive praise continued: “Allyson’s dedication, dependability and genuine compassion for our clients make her a tremendous asset to our team. We are truly grateful to have Allyson as a member of the Home Instead family and appreciate everything she brings to our team and our clients.”

Allyson has all of the character traits that Rozephyr described, but one more also stands out: Allyson’s humility. “Although I’m still fairly new to Home Instead, I have previous caregiving experience. But I’m excited to continue growing with the company, building relationships with my clients and learning new things along the way. I believe caregiving is one of those jobs where you’re constantly learning, no matter how much experience you have,” she said.

In March 2025, Allyson earned her CNA certification, which allowed her to further her education and knowledge of patient care. “When considering my previous caregiving experience, my CNA training and helping my own family, she said, “I’ve learned how important it is to have patience, understanding and compassion when caring for others.”

To Allyson, there is no such thing as “cookie-cutter care.” She noted: “I believe every client is different. Some people may need more assistance than others, while some are incredibly independent. I think it's important to understand each person’s individual needs and respect what they're capable of doing for themselves.”

Responding to a question about family caregiving, Allyson said: “Being able to help someone in my own family – my papa – has given me another perspective on caregiving. When it’s someone in your family, you understand how important it is to know that they’re being taken care of properly and treated with respect. I believe that experience has helped me understand how families feel when they’re trusting someone else to care for their loved ones. I try to bring that same level of care and understanding into my work because I know how important family is and how much it means to know that someone you love is in good hands.”
