3-Time Care Pro Honoree Rosalind: ‘Every Day Is a Highlight’

When Rosalind Lenford was honored in June 2026 for the third time as a Care Professional of the Month, she was asked about her biggest highlight since being publicly commended in April 2025 at Home Instead® of Midland-Odessa, Texas.

“Every day is a highlight for me,” said Rosaland, who was first selected as the Care Pro of the Month in March 2022. “I truly enjoy working with my clients in their homes. That’s a place for both of us to be able to sit comfortably, talk and do whatever else they would love to do.”

Not everything goes well all the time, of course. But Rosalind has the patience of Job when she is matched with a challenging client. In one instance, she admitted: “I had a client who really ‘scared’ me at one point because we were initially unable to connect. I honestly thought I was going to have to ask the office to assign someone else, but then I somewhat won her over. In the end, she was very pleasant after she warmed up to me. I’m glad I didn’t give up because that’s not something I like to do.”

Losing clients or their family members is more difficult despite the fact that it is a predictable senior-care outcome. “During one of my sad moments,” Rosalind recalled, “I had a client who lost his wife this year. That was really a downer because I also helped take care of his wife a little bit as far as fixing her food and just being there for her to talk to me.”

Rosalind added: “Since the client’s wife really enjoyed our interaction, the shift for her husband became my favorite one. I don’t know how it feels to lose a significant other, but I know my client, now a widower, is lonely. A daughter and grandson stay with him, but the client and I talk a lot. He laughs a lot, so that just really makes my day that I can make his emotional burden a little lighter for him.”

While reflecting on her third honor at the Home Instead franchise owned by William and Lorena Shensky, Rosaland said: “I was truly surprised I was picked again for employee of the month. I just want to complete my job with each shift and do the best I can. I don’t have any secret formula.”

Home Instead Recruitment and Engagement Advisor Rozephyr Jean said Rosalind has a caregiving aura that is difficult to quantify, an “it” factor or magnetism that draws clients and their family members to her and creates strong bonds.

“Rosalind has been a valued member of the Home Instead team since 2021,” said Rozephyr, pointing to consistency of Rosalind’s impeccable character over the years. “She is a dedicated and dependable Care Pro who consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty to support both our clients and our office. Rosalind is one of the first Care Pros we contact when we need coverage for a call-off shift or an open shift because we know we can count on her. She consistently delivers high-quality care, and we are proud to have her as part of our team.”

When Rosalind started with Home Instead, she was paired with a client who was bedbound. In no time, Rosalind had her client sitting at the dinner table and eating her meals. While that client was memorable, others also were unforgettable. Rosalind said: “I love all my clients, but the one who really had my heart was Miss S. She liked to pray for people, and we loved watching Dr. David Jeremiah, a well-known evangelical Christian author and pastor, on television.”

As much as she loves her clients and their family members, Rosalind has focused on a special grandson over the years. “Outside of the job, my grandson Elijah graduated this year, and I was extremely happy and excited for him. I have been there for him since the day he came in the world. As long as the Lord keeps me here, I want to be there for him as much as I can in the next journey of his life,” Rosaland said. “He is my pride and joy. He started going to church by initiating the idea with me. He makes good decisions most of the time, but I want to be an influence in his life as much as I can.”

Rosalind continues to be an influence in the lives of her clients and their families. “I will keep doing my job as long as the Lord keeps me going,” she said.
