At Home Instead, we love spotlighting events that seniors and their families can enjoy together. If you love seeing local history come to life, get ready to honor the spirit of the Old West at the America 250 Pony Express ReRide Celebration!
On Saturday, May 30th, from 10am to 2pm, stop by Dayton’s Historic Old Town District, 135 Shady Lane, for a free event commemorating America’s upcoming 250th birthday. This will be a preview for the National Pony Express ReRide, which will gallop through Dayton on June 24th.
What to Expect:
- Take a photo as a Pony Express rider
- Meet the Virginia City Silent Riders and Nevada Civil War volunteers
- Ride the speeder car on the depot tracks
- Participate in the Mochila Handoff Stick Pony Relay Race
- Learn and play traditional children’s games from the 1800s for prizes
- Try your hand at gold panning, where it all began in 1849
- Watch telegraph demonstrations and track down "Most Wanted Outlaws."
- Tour the historic Pony Express Relay Station, Firehouse, and Museum.
