At Home Instead, care is built on relationships. We take the time to understand what matters to you and your family—then provide support that feels consistent, thoughtful, and personal.
What sets us apart? We don’t just show up. We build trust. We get to know your family, listen to what matters, and create a plan that fits your life. And because we’re locally owned, you can count on care that’s rooted in the community.

Support depends on the person. Care Pros may help with bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, companionship, meals, light housekeeping, errands, transportation, mobility, reminders, and other daily routines included in the customized care plan.
Our local team also understands that care can look different in rural Monroe County. Transportation may be a major need when an older adult has difficulty getting to the grocery store or medical appointments. Home Instead Bloomington can combine practical assistance with companionship and personal care so families aren’t trying to coordinate several separate sources of help.
Personal care preparation includes hands-on training at our Bloomington office. We have a hospital bed and equipment available so Care Pros can work through realistic scenarios and practice the proper way to provide assistance before entering a client’s home.
This hands-on portion generally takes two to three hours. In practice, personal care may include bathing, dressing, oral care, hair care, shaving, or applying lotion. One local client living in assisted living especially looks forward to her weekly Home Instead visit because her Care Pro helps with her shower and takes her to have her hair done—routines that leave her feeling more like herself.
Depending on the person’s care needs, yes. Our Bloomington team supports clients who need more hands-on assistance with mobility and everyday activities.
One local client receives 12 hours of care each day. His Care Pros provide personal care and companionship while also assisting with transfers because he cannot safely manage them independently. They help him get out of bed and into the living room in the morning, then help him prepare for bed at night. That support allows him to spend more of his day out of bed while reducing how much hands-on care his family has to provide themselves.
Care doesn’t stop being reviewed once a Care Pro has been assigned. Home Instead Bloomington makes quality assurance calls at least once a month, sometimes more frequently, and conducts in-person quality assurance visits every 30 days.
That ongoing contact gives the team opportunities to hear how care is going and recognize when needs have changed. This can be particularly important for people living with dementia, recovering from an illness or fall, or gradually needing more personal assistance. The care plan can then evolve with the individual instead of remaining fixed while their circumstances change.
Yes. Veteran support can include companionship, personal care, transportation, and other appropriate home care services.
One Bloomington-area veteran had no family nearby when a fall led to hospitalization and rehabilitation. Our team stayed in contact and visited him. When it became clear he would need additional support after discharge, we worked with home health and hospice to help him pursue additional VA-authorized hours. Our Client Care Manager attended his discharge care plan meeting because family wasn’t available, and a familiar Care Pro was there when he returned home.
