CAREGiver of the Quarter - December 2014 - Karen Cheeley

Congratulations to Karen Cheeley, for being the winning nomination for CAREGiver of the Quarter! Karen joined Home Instead Senior Care in July 2014 and quickly made it apparent that she is committed to the caregiving experience. A graduate of the Home Instead Senior Care Alzheimer's Care Training Program, Karen has worked with many clients with dementia-related behaviors and has been able to create a calm and safe environment for her clients.  Those who know Karen and have worked with her describe Karen as a person who is focused on her work, one who gives above and beyond for others.

A recent example of Karen's work ethic can be seen in the following example. Karen was scheduled with a 24 hour client from 2:30pm-11:00pm. Her overnight relief called off just hours before the start of the overnight shift.  Despite valiant attempts to cover the shift, Karen was notified that we needed her to work a double shift.  She accepted the shift with understanding and grace; exhibiting her ability to place the client needs above her own. Please join the Home Instead Senior Care team in congratulating Karen Cheeley on this achievement!

CAREGiver of the Quarter - March 2015 - Valerie Roberts

Congratulations to the CAREGiver of the Quarter, Val Roberts!  Val has been with Home Instead Senior Care since June of 2010. Valerie is winning this award because of her unwavering dedication to our    clients, her ability to anticipate what the client needs, and her understanding of what makes a great CAREGiver!  Val never needs reminders to call in her hours, she has an excellent attendance record, and if we need her to work extra hours, Val doesn't hesitate to step up if she is able.

Val's clients have been some of the longest running clients we have served, and all will agree that it is due to Val's ability to treat the client as if they were her own family member.  Val can maintain calm in the face of an emergency, she knows when to call the office to report her concerns, and she has an uncanny ability to consistently develop a strong bond between her client and the client family.

Sometimes we honor CAREGivers who have done an unusual good deed, or for one specific incident. We thought this time to honor a CAREGiver who does what is expected of a Home Instead Senior Care CAREGiver and does it without reminders and prompting.  Thank you and congratulations, Val!
