That's why our team stands ready to serve you any day of the week, at any hour of the day or night. Kyla Wilkinson, Client Care Coordinator

Kyla Wilkinson, Client Care Coordinator

A native of Colorado, Kyla attended Colorado State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies.  This major helped enrich her passion for helping others and her desire to work with unique and diverse populations.  During her education at CSU, Kyla participated in an internship at an Adult Day Program where she provided holistic and therapeutic care to older adults who had physical and mental disabilities.  This experience solidified her aspiration to work with the senior population and led her to pursue a career in the industry.  Kyla continued to work as a caregiver for a prominent Assisted Living facility in Colorado where she was promoted as their Memory Care Business Office Coordinator.
 
Kyla joined the Home Instead Senior Care team in Covina as our Office Coordinator and currently serves as our Client Care Coordinator.  She uses her educational background, along with her caregiving, dementia, and office experience to continue to help cultivate our Home Instead community.  As our Client Care Coordinator, she assists potential clients and families by conducting our free in-home assessments to evaluate their care needs, developing customized care plans and managing the on-boarding process to set up services.  She also conducts Client/CAREGiver introductions.

In her spare time, Kyla enjoys exploring the outdoors and keeping physically active. She is particularly passionate about playing both golf and disc golf. Kyla is a proud owner of an energetic English bull terrier puppy, Spud, who consumes much of her focus and attention!

Paula Alvarado, Service Coordinator

Paula Alvarado, Service Coordinator

​Paula has over 19 years of caregiving experience! She attended Azusa Adult School and earned certificates in Pharmacology, Medical Technology, and Medical Math. However, before she could put her education to use, her mother became ill and she became her primary caregiver for 10 years.  This experience prompted her to pursue a career in caregiving and she subsequently decided to accept a position with In Home Support Service (IHSS) and worked as a caregiver for over 14 years caring for various clientele with diverse medical issues.  Paula realized she had incredible intuition when it came to client safety and innovative ideas to help her clients lead safer lives. To challenge herself further, she became a registered caregiver for Silverado Memory Care Community in Azusa specializing in Alzheimer’s and Dementia patients.

Paula later heard about an opportunity with Home Instead Senior Care and jumped on board as a CAREGiver! Her experience and skills were soon noticed by the management team and she was offered an administrative position.  Paula is our Service Coordinator and is responsible for scheduling service with an emphasis on creating extraordinary matches of CAREGivers to our clients.  She also conducts quality visits to ensure we deliver the highest quality of care to our clients.

In her spare time, Paula loves to cook and entertain for family and friends. She has a full family of daughters and grandchildren who she dedicates much of her time to.  She loves to travel, watch documentaries, attend concerts and go to the movies.


Rose Ilagan, Recruitment Coordinator

​Rose grew up locally and graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts from L.A. Harbor College.  Ten years ago, she became a NASM certified Personal Trainer and a AFFA aerobics instructor.  Her favorite class to teach was “Silver Sneakers” which consisted of various exercises designed for the senior community to increase muscular strength and range of motion needed for daily living.  Her clients would find themselves dancing, laughing and creating memories together.  Rose enjoyed bringing the gift of health to seniors while putting a smile on their faces. In 2007 her mother was diagnosed with Cancer.   Rose recalls that “Seeing my mom struggle and helping her through this made me realize I wanted to pursue something much further.”  Rose joined Home Instead and quickly blossomed as a very versatile CAREGiver and was asked to join the administrative team.

Rose is responsible to recruit and hire amazing and compassionate CAREGivers to join our Home Instead Senior Care family and assist CAREGivers with the state Licensure process.  She is also responsible for content customization, coordination and delivery of all training programs for our CAREGivers.

Rose is passionate about staying physically active through jujitsu, hiking, and weight training. She spends additional time personally training others to become healthier. Rose loves spending quality time with her children and fluffy dog, Toby.


Susan Isaccs, Part-Time Personal Care Trainer

Susan Isaccs, Part-Time Personal Care Trainer

Susan has been a caregiver all her life!  She initially got her LVN from Pasadena City College and worked as an LVN for 13 years.  She then went back to school at Mount San Antonio College and Excelsior College and got her RN and worked between local hospitals, home care, and hospice care in the San Gabriel Valley.  After a 36-year nursing career, she retired early to care for her in-laws.  She also does volunteer work for several local nonprofit organizations. 

Susan currently works part-time for Home Instead and develops and delivers hands-on personal care training to our CAREGivers.  Her training emphasizes caregiving while maintaining Comfort, Dignity and Safety for all.

Susan loves to spend time with family & friends, working with home décor, reading, watching movies and travelling.


Eileen Knight, Office Administrator

Eileen Knight, Office Administrator

​Eileen Knight is a native Texan who attended Angelo State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting.  She had an extensive career in the telecommunications industry where she performed various functions of increasing responsibility in the Finance, Information Technology, Billing, and Product Management organizations.  Eileen is proud to utilize her skills to support her teammates and the clients of Home Instead Senior Care - Covina.

Along with family members, Eileen cared for her Mom in her later years.  She saw firsthand how important it is to have someone who can be an advocate for their loved one.  Being there for Dr. appointments and spending quality time with her Mom made an enormous difference in the quality of life her Mom experienced in her last years.  It’s not always possible for a family member to perform this role, but Eileen is honored to be part of such a caring group that can provide these services.


As our Office Administrator, Eileen performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties including client billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, other financial functions and special projects.

Eileen enjoys weight training, yoga, traveling and spending time with friends and family.  Eileen is active in her church’s music ministry and in P.E.O., a philanthropic organization that supports women’s education.


Rushika Mediwake, Owner/Director

Rushika Mediwake, Owner/Director

Rushika grew up in West Covina and San Dimas and have lived in the San Gabriel Valley for much of her life. Although her previous corporate career has taken her all around the country, her heart truly remained in this area as “it was always comforting to return to the place I love”.  As a graduate of the University of Southern California with a Degree in Business Administration, she spent 29 years advancing in various management positions with GTE Corporation and Verizon Communications.  Her corporate resume includes extensive experience in marketing, product management, customer care, sales support, billing and operations management.

For many years, she had felt a strong desire to work in some capacity that would allow her to serve seniors, while guiding a team and bettering the community.  Then her mother was diagnosed with cancer and Rushika became her primary caregiver and got firsthand experience of the importance of a caregiver’s role and the impact they had in the life of a senior.  “This experience truly changed my life and showed me how my mother’s quality of life was improved as she was able to spend her last years in her own home.  Having many seniors in my extended family struggling with dementia and other aging ailments, I know how challenged families are to get proper care for their loved ones.  I consider myself blessed with the opportunity to own a Home Instead Senior Care franchise and give back in a unique and rewarding way to the community I love.”  Rushika is the owner and director of operations with a vision of delivering exceptional care to our clients, being the leading trusted advisor to families and being the best caregiving resource in our community.

Rushika enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, doing volunteer work and travelling the world!
