Medfield, Massachusetts is located in Norfolk counties. Located south west of Boston, Medfield is in an area called Metro West.
Initially called New Dedham, Medfield was first settled in 1649. It was incorporated in 1651 and was the 43rd town in Massachusetts. Half of Medfield was destroyed by Native Americans in 1675 during King Philips War.
Settled as a farming community, Medfield was home to a hat factory in the late 1800's. Today Medfield is a bedroom community to the larger towns and the cities of Boston and Cambridge.
