In deciding to whom you will entrust the care and well-being of your family member, there is one consideration which is far more important than any other-the quality of the CAREGiver and the agency behind that person.
The Northborough/Natick, MA offices of Home Instead opened their doors on March 1, 1997 as Hearthside, Inc. dba (doing business as) Home Instead Senior Care. Each Home Instead office is individually owned and operated.

The Northborough office was the first Home Instead Senior Care in New England and the 51st franchise in North America. After completion of a successful first year, the owners bought their second office located in Natick, MA.
Although Home Instead Senior Care is a "non-medical" home care agency, the owners came into this business with years of medical backgrounds. Bruce Bender is a physician and Laurie Bender a Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist.
Now, with a staff of over 200 CAREGivers, and having provided care to well over 1,000 Clients, the Benders have remained in the forefront of Home Care in Massachusetts. They have worked with state representatives to both legislate and create quality standards for this industry.​

Laurie and Bruce Bender - Owners

​Laurie Bender, RN, MSN, CCNS and her husband, Bruce Bender, MD, MS left their medical practices back in 1997 to open the first Home Instead Senior Care in New England.

Their goal had been, and continues to be, to provide the very best assistance to seniors to help them remain at home, where they wish to be. The Benders', and their dedicated staff, have assisted thousands of seniors (and their families) with that goal, keeping their loved one's at "Home Instead."

Angela Brunson Bartlett - General Manager

Angela Brunson Bartlett - General Manager

Angela has a degree in Sociology and came to the Home Instead team in January 2002. She has a strong managerial background and a true passion for working with seniors and their families. For years she was often the first person a family member spoke with about home care services, conducting the in-home assessments to help guide families to the best possible solutions for care. Today Angela manages the operations of our business; developing and implementing goals on how we can continue to be the best home care resource for our community. In her free time, Angela enjoys spending time with her husband and their dog Marley. They enjoy adventurous vacations and fun kayaking trips.


Ann Mazzola, RN - Clinical Client Care Manager

Ann Mazzola, RN - Clinical Client Care Manager

Ann initially began her relationship with Home Instead as our Nurse Educator in 2012. In 2013 she joined the Home Instead Team as one of our Clinical Nurse Supervisors. She provides the Nursing Assessment for any Home Instead client seeking personal or companion care services. Ann also supervises our personal care staff and provides ongoing quality assessment visits for all of our personal care clients. She comes to us with years of nursing experience as both a clinician and nurse educator. 


Deborah Potty, LPN - Clinical Client Care Manager

Deborah Potty, LPN - Clinical Client Care Manager

​​​Deb joined the Home Instead Team in 2009 as one of our Clinical Nurse Supervisors. She provides the Nursing Assessment for any client seeking personal or companion care services. Deb also supervises our personal care staff and provides ongoing quality assessment visits for all of our personal care clients. She came to us with 35+ years of nursing experience in acute care hospital settings, with the last two years as a unit manager in a long-term care facility. ​


Jennifer Richtsmeier, MSW, CDP - Marketing Director & Community Service Representative

Jennifer Richtsmeier, MSW, CDP - Marketing Director & Community Service Representative

​Jennifer joined Home Instead in March 2017. She is a clinical social worker, having completed her Masters from Smith College School for Social Work in 2011. Jennifer assists with Initial Assessments, Quality Visits, and works to develop relationships throughout Worcester and MetroWest communities. She came to Home Instead after witnessing her 101-year-old Grandmother successfully age at home with the help of supportive CAREGivers. When Jennifer is not working to support area seniors she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and two pets.


Amanda Williams - Recruitment Coordinator

Amanda Williams - Recruitment Coordinator

Amanda, a former Client Care Manager, was promoted to the position of Recruitment Coordinator in September 2018. Amanda screens and hires all CAREGivers, ensuring their skill level and compassion for helping others meet or exceed our standards. In her free time Amanda enjoys spending time outdoors with her dog and husband.


Felicia Cardone - Retention Coordinator

Felicia Cardone - Retention Coordinator Felicia joined our team as a CAREGiver in 2001 with over 10 years of experience in the senior care industry. In 2002 she was promoted to our office team and has been successfully onboarding our CAREGivers ever since. In addition to facilitating our initial CAREGiver orientations she also provides many of our on-going educational opportunities. When Felicia is not working for Home Instead she enjoys spending time with her family and children.

Kathy Pashapour - Senior Client Care Manager

Kathy Pashapour - Senior Client Care Manager

​Kathy joined our team as a CAREGiver in August 2016 and was quickly promoted to her current role as Client Care Manager. She came to us with 25 years of accounting experience and wanted a position that allowed her to more personally connect with her clients. Kathy assists in the placement and supervision of our CAREGivers for both Personal and Companion Care clients. She is also responsible for the overall case management and communication between client, CAREGiver, and family.  In her free time Kathy enjoys being with her family and enjoying the outdoors.


Chelsea Clain - Client Care Manager

Chelsea Clain - Client Care Manager

Chelsea is a part-time student working towards a degree in Human Services. She joined Home Instead as a CAREGiver in February 2018 and was promoted to her role as Client Care Manager in October. She has a passion for working with people and a background in retail sales. In Chelsea's free time she enjoys being with her cats and watching scary movies.


Jennifer Moore, Assistant Client Care Manager

Jennifer joined the Home Instead team in October 2018. She is a sophomore at Fitchburg State University where she is studying English and Political Science. Jennifer spent eight years caring for her grandmother which allowed her to develop a strong affinity for working with seniors. In her free-time Jennifer enjoys spending time with her fiancé and going on adventures around the state. 


Tracey Atkinson - Payroll Coordinator

Tracey Atkinson - Payroll Coordinator Tracey has been with Home Instead since 2003. She initially joined the team as a CAREGiver and was eventually promoted to Weekend Staff Supervisor. In 2005 she was promoted again to her current role as Payroll Coordinator. Tracey currently oversees the collection of all payroll information and is also our Long-Term Care Insurance expert. When Tracey is not working hard to ensure that everyone gets paid she enjoys spending time with her family.

Jessica Castoldi - Client Services & Benefits Coordinator

Jessica Castoldi - Client Services & Benefits Coordinator Jessica Castoldi is our Client Services and Benefits Coordinator.  She ​assists in the administrative services relative to our clients​​ and oversees all of our employee benefits. Prior to this role, Jessica had been a Client Care Manager with Home Instead ​​for four years and started as ​a CAREGiver in 2002.​​

Joanne Claflin Billings - Office Administrator/On-Call Supervisor

Joanne Claflin Billings - Office Administrator/On-Call Supervisor Joanne joined our team as a CAREGiver in June 2011. One month later she was promoted to the role of Office Administrator. Joanne is one of the first people you will speak with when calling our office. As our On-Call Supervisor, she provides supervision for our CAREGiver staff from 5:00pm on Friday to 9:00am Monday mornings. Joanne came to Home Instead with over 35 years of interoffice and personnel administrative experience.​​

​Zoey is our resident paper shredder and garbage sorter. He joined Home Instead in April 2012 and has been a dedicated team member ever since.
