Goodlettsville July 2021 Client & CAREGiver Spotlight - Arnold H. & Nancy C.
Meet Arnold and his Professional CAREGiver, Nancy, Goodlettsville’s Client and Professional CAREGiver Spotlight team for July! Mr. Arnold grew up in Jamestown, TN. He was a farmer and worked odd jobs. When he was 21 years old, he had an incident involving a nail, which caused him to be blind. He moved to Nashville and made brooms and mops and worked in a mattress factory. He met his wife, Ladonna, at a school for the blind in Nashville and they were married for 39 years. She was also a client of Home Instead until she passed away in 2018.
Nancy was also Ladonna’s caregiver, so she says that, even though she is of retirement age at 79 years old, she cannot retire on Mr. Arnold. They have a close bond and share memories of Ladonna together. Nancy takes care of everything and knows where to put everything away so Mr. Arnold can find it. Even though he is completely blind, he still cooks for himself, and Nancy will do the dishes. They enjoy listening to the bible on CD as well as other books and music. Nancy’s supervisor says, “Nancy is more than a caregiver, she is a friend. She knows what needs to be done and she just does it”. We are certainly glad Nancy has decided to stay for Mr. Arnold. This is what we mean by “Sharing Our Hearts”. We wish Mr. Arnold and Nancy many more years together!
