Goodlettsville April 2021 Client & CAREGiver Spotlight - Rita O. & Paula H.
Meet the Goodlettsville Client and CAREGiver℠ Spotlight for April, Ms. Rita and her caregiver Paula. Ms. Rita is a New Yorker at heart, though she has spent the last 25 years in Tennessee. Ms. Rita has had such an interesting life, as she was one of the few women in the steel industry many years ago. She was a sales representative, and her specialty was selling higher temperature alloys, such as titanium. Ms. Rita loves telling the story of how she met her late husband, Michael. She was on an elevator in the Chrysler Building in New York, and when Michael boarded the elevator, Ms. Rita told her friend she was going to talk to him. She did talk to Michael and they never stopped talking through 64 years of marriage!
After Michael passed away, Ms. Rita found herself needing some help and immediately hit it off with Paula. Paula works another job at night but adds an extra day to her busy schedule to make sure Ms. Rita get the care she needs, as Ms. Rita will only accept care from Paula. Ms. Rita and Paula enjoy watching “Chicago PD” together and Ms. Rita enjoys Paula’s spaghetti. They sometimes go out for a ride, but they even make doctor appointments enjoyable, since they like to get out of the house.
Paula’s supervisor says, “Paula and Ms. Rita go together like peas and carrots. They are honestly one of the best matches we have ever made”. We are so proud of this bond and it truly exemplifies what we mean by “Sharing Our Hearts”. We hope Ms. Rita and Paula have many more fulfilling years together!
