“To care for those who once cared for us is one of the highest honors”.

Growing up, I was extremely close to my Grandparents. Most of my favorite childhood memories involve holidays at their house, gardening with them and eating my Grandma’s “famous” Veggie Burgers. Even as a teenager when hanging out with your Grandparents probably wasn’t “cool”, I loved being with them.

I remember when my Grandpa started showing signs of dementia. It was devastating. Here was this amazing man who volunteered at church, could fix anything, was the taxi driver for his Grandchildren, and he was needing help. One afternoon while driving him to a doctor’s appointment, I remember him getting tears in his eyes and telling me that he was scared. I held his hand and told him that I would be there for him as he was always there for me.

It really is the greatest honor that I get to help care for those who once cared for us. I am blessed to be able to hold hands with the seniors in our area and let them know that I will be there for them.

“Make a dent in the Universe”

After 25+ years in the Corporate Hospitality Industry, I’m excited to be a part of something that truly improves the lives of others. Changing careers later in life was a huge decision. I knew I made the right decision when I met my first client and her family and knew that I could make their lives a little easier.

They say children learn from example. I was taught that people pray before meals, marriages last, people work hard and you treat others the way you want to be treated. This was taught by my parents and grandparents. I remember driving tractors with my Grandpa Gassman. That gave me a great appreciation for working hard and supplying for your family. I had more time with my Grandpa Brockway. We could talk about cars forever, especially his Olds 49, and he taught me to be inventive in my home repairs. I cherish these memories. It’s my hope that I can help other families create memories like these.

Heidi Guilbeau, Client Care Coordinator

“Treat others with Dignity and Respect”. I’ve always believed in putting others above yourself and working at Home Instead Senior Care allows me to do this every day. I get the privilege of meeting prospective clients and helping them understand that there are options available to help them remain in their home. As Client Care Coordinator, I work closely with the Clients to make sure their needs are being met.

Before joining Home Instead Senior Care in 2016, I was a Caregiver for 14 years and understand the importance of the Client-Caregiver relationship. Sometimes a Caregiver is the only person a Client will see and for a little part of each day, a Caregiver can bring great joy to a Client.

I joined the Home Instead team because I wanted a job that would allow me to make a positive impact in the community, specifically people's quality of life.
Growing up, I had a passion for children and animals. After graduation from Tarleton State University, I decided I wanted to use my drive to help others, but use it in a way that I never had before. I had a strong bond with my Grandparents growing up, and have fond memories of baking and
crafting with my Grandma, and riding tractors and collecting coins with my Grandpa. I discovered a passion for CAREGiving and providing a support
system for seniors and their families. It brings me joy to help our Clients find comfort in the safety of their own homes.

Ruby Huffman, Lead Caregiver

I wanted to be a CAREGiver because I truly care about people, and my heart goes out to those who can't do it all by themselves, and need just another pair of hands.  It's not all physical, though.  Our Clients have led full lives.  They have memories, stories and accomplishments.   They were once young and they just want to be heard and to be acknowledged.   They don't want to feel forgotten or that they're a burden.  Whether it's helping someone stand physically or mentally, I feel rewarded when I leave a Client's house, seeing them happy and comfortable, and looking forward to our next time.   You never know how far a smile as well as a strong pair of hands reaches our people.   I feel blessed to be able to do that for someone.
