Meet Our Home Care Team

Jane D. Downing, Ph.D., Owner & General Manager
Jane grew up in a family where caregiving for family and friends in the local community was part of everyday life. It is this model of caregiving that Jane is dedicated to creating and sustaining with her staff as they work with families in Northeastern Connecticut. Jane is a hands-on member of the Home Instead team, supporting internal staff and CAREGiver, and managing all aspects of the day-to-day efforts. Jane has a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Maryland-College Park. She worked in the field of education for over 10 years before opening the Northeastern Connecticut office of Home Instead. When not working, Jane enjoys time with her family, traveling, running, and playing the piano.

Kashmir Rai, Office Coordinator
Kashmir joined the Home Instead team in November 2015. In 2020, Kashmir was promoted to the Office Coordinator role. She performs a variety of critical administrative functions, including supporting team members who work most directly with CAREGivers and clients. Kashmir graduated with a law degree from Thames Valley University (UK) and has a legal/banking background with over 13 years’ experience in customer service in the finance industry. Coming from a culture where living in an extended family is common, Kashmir appreciates the importance of caring for the elderly. In her spare time, Kashmir loves reading, traveling to and learning about other cultures, doing Sudoku puzzles, gardening, and going to the movies.

Dana Maranos, Recruitment Coordinator
Dana worked in corporate and healthcare settings in Boston and New York City before landing in Connecticut. With over 30 years of HR experience, she is excited to use her experience to recruit dedicated CAREGivers. The best part of her job is “…hearing stories from CAREGivers who truly love their jobs! Their goal is to make sure they put a smile on their client’s face and treat them with the respect and dignity they deserve.” For Dana, this confirms there really are amazing, selfless people in this world. When not providing new CAREGivers with a warm welcome and informative orientation, she enjoys spending time with her husband, daughters, and family members and friends that mean the world to her.

Diana Dean, Engagement Coordinator

Nicole Violette, Training Coordinator
Nicole organizes and provides training programs for CAREGivers, including one-on-one training between CAREGivers and new clients. With a passion for helping seniors, she enjoys passing on her knowledge to CAREGivers and assisting clients in their needs. “The client’s world is in constant change, and I help both the client and caregiver adjust to those changes and modifiers. It’s a team effort, and I really enjoy that!” Nicole has a degree in Exercise Science, PTA, and carries a number of other certifications relevant to her work. She enjoys spending time with her kids and dogs, hiking and kayaking, and providing outdoor and self-care programs for groups.

Mirriem Kamtengeni, Lead CAREGiver
Before joining the team, Mirriem worked as a certified nursing assistant and in welfare and pensions. Her work in these roles led to her professional interest in assisting seniors. Mirriem supports the Home Instead experience for both clients and CAREGivers. She provides introductions for CAREGivers on first assignments with clients, assists staff facing challenges, and fills in for CAREGivers. Mirriem enjoys working with coworkers who are patient and exhibit strong teamwork. She is a wife and a mother of two who loves to travel, cook, and entertain family and friends.

Bobbijoe Toth, Client Care Manager
Bobbi serves as a primary resource for families at various stages of their involvement with home care services, from initial inquiries about home care through ongoing support and problem-solving. After growing up caring for a mother who suffered from health issues, Bobbi’s career with in-home care began when she earned her license as a Certified Nursing Assistant in 2007. She finds it a joy and privilege to spend time connecting and learning from seniors who have a lifetime of experience and knowledge to share. Outside of work, Bobbi spends time mothering her wonderful daughter, who is no less the apple of her eye.

Anna Bycholski, Client Care Coordinator
Anna has spent many years in the healthcare services industry. Anna enjoys being part of an amazing team that works closely with clients and their families to improve the lives of seniors and allow them to remain living safely and happily in their homes.
