FAYETTEVILLE, NC – July 25, 2019 - Better Health and Home Instead Senior Care of Fayetteville have partnered to help bridge the gap in local veterans’ healthcare coverage. The Home Instead Senior Care Foundation recently donated $10,000 to Better Health’s Direct Aid program, which will specifically assist veterans and their dependents whose eyewear is not covered under existing benefits. Recipients can receive optometry exams and eyewear free of charge. Assistance can also include providing or replacing eyeglasses for military dependents.

“Vision is a crucial factor to one’s quality of life. Without our vision, everything else becomes limited. Assistance with eye glasses is a need for so many, and something we are asked about daily,” said Amy Navejas, Executive Director of Better Health. “When Home Instead of Fayetteville approached us about their desire to help veterans, we knew that we could make a significant impact together.”

“Glasses are expensive.” explains Kathryn McCarthy, joint owner of Home Instead Senior Care of Fayetteville, “It just makes sense to donate to a cause that is so necessary and will impact the lives of our veterans!”

Any veteran or military dependent in need of assistance can contact Better Health at 910-483-7534 to find out more about this free benefit. Better Health currently collaborates with Village Eye Care and Cape Fear Eye Associates to coordinate exams and order eyewear.

To continue providing eyewear to our local veterans, Better Health and Home Instead Senior Care are challenging the community to match the $10,000 donated by the Home Instead Foundation!
