Nicole O., Oakwood Scheduling Coordinator

What do you do as Scheduling Coordinator at Home Instead Cleveland East?

Nicole: I help pair clients who need assistance with a compassionate caring Care Professional.

Why is building relationships so important in your role?

Nicole: Getting to know my clients, their needs, and their personalities build trust with our clients. It also helps me find a Care Pro who will be the right fit. The same is said for our Care Pros and the relationship I build with them. It not only helps me pair them with the right client but shows them I care because I really do and am so appreciative of all they do. We become friends and they know if they have a problem or need help, they can come to me, and I will do all I can to help them. These relationships become friendships and make our workplace a place of unity. It becomes not just a job but instead friends and family working together to achieve the same goal in doing what is best for our clients.

What is the funniest/craziest situation you worked through with a positive outcome?

Nicole: I would have to say on a Friday afternoon around 4:20 pm we received a client who needed care quickly and needed to start 24hrs immediately. I was the only Scheduler left in the office and like I said it was 40 min to 5pm but by the grace of God I was able to get that client staffed and not just staffed for the weekend but I was able to staff their ongoing shifts as well. It was a great feeling to get it done and know that this client had the help that they needed when they needed it.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not scheduling?

Nicole: I enjoy spending time with my family and baking when I am not scheduling.

What makes you a good fit for this position and what qualities and skills should one possess to be a scheduler?

Nicole: I believe what makes me a good fit for this position is the love I have to help others. I am passionate about making other people's lives better. I enjoy talking and building relationships with our clients and care pros. I also can multitask, am flexible, and committed which are all essential parts of the role as a scheduler. Finally, one must always have compassion for your fellow man. All these pieces are needed to fulfill the role of a scheduler.
