Husband and Wife Team Purchases Home Instead Franchise in Collin County

Home Instead Owners Chase and Taylor Crenwelge

Chase and Taylor Crenwelge, a husband and wife business team, have purchased Home Instead® of Collin County in Plano, Texas, from longtime owner Todd Felker, who had operated the franchise since 2014 and has built a vital business helping seniors in area communities.

Home Instead provides personalized in-home care for aging adults wherever they call home, including private residences and care communities throughout the Collin County cities of Plano, Frisco, McKinney, Allen, Lucas, Fairview, Anna, Celina, Prosper, Wylie, Murphy and Melissa.

Chase and Taylor, who took over the award-winning franchise March 1, 2025, both grew up in Salado, Texas, north of Austin, and graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. Chase is an attorney who earned his law degree and MBA simultaneously at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Most recently, Chase held an in-house position with Holt CAT, a Caterpillar dealer, in San Antonio, where he focused on mergers and acquisitions, and real estate transactions.

Taylor has been a Registered Nurse (RN) since 2017, and she has a background in trauma and emergency medicine, and orthopedic care. She had worked in ER and trauma centers in Abilene and Dallas and, most recently, at two surgery centers in San Antonio that specialized in orthopedics. Taylor has seen firsthand the struggles seniors face. Her background and experience have fueled her passion for the kind of quality home care that Home Instead provides.

“It has long been a goal of Taylor and mine to own our own business, and home care offered a unique opportunity to combine our skill sets. It also offered the opportunity to do work that we felt made a difference,” Chase said. Taylor said the goal of their business is to continue to fulfill Todd’s vision of being the best in-home senior care agency in the Dallas-Fort Worth area while providing the highest level of care to seniors.

“Another goal of mine will be to ensure the Care Professionals who work for us feel as though they are more valued than they’ve been in any previous job . . . My dad always encouraged the ‘Golden Rule’ to treat others as you wish to be treated and it has never failed me,” Taylor said.

The COVID-19 pandemic revealed to Taylor the value of in-home personalized care. “I was a hospital nurse during the pandemic, and I could see the effects of illness on families,” Taylor noted. “Seniors were isolated from all except medical professionals. Take a person with memory issues and leave them in an unfamiliar room completely alone with periodic visits from staff wearing big masks and goggles. Not an ideal situation. We need to be surrounded by our loved ones throughout our lives . . . The experience showed me the true value of aging within your own home, surrounded by family and loved ones. That is where the highest level of quality care can be achieved,” she added.

Chase will never forget one family-caregiving memory. “My grandfather was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s when I was young. I grew up watching how the disease affected him as it progressed and how difficult it was for my grandmother, his primary caregiver. Amazingly, she was able to care for him at their home until his death. Twice a week she had a caregiver who would come by the house to provide respite care, allowing my grandmother to run errands. I saw firsthand how important caregivers can be,” Chase recalled.

Chase added: “Todd Felker left the business in a great place. We have inherited an incredible team. Our goal is to keep the business on its upward trajectory and continue to grow. We believe we offer the best senior-care service in our territory, and growth means we are bringing the best care to more seniors who need it. Taylor and I will pour into our people first. Fulfilled people do great work and, in this business, great work means great care. The better care we provide, the more we can grow and the more seniors we can reach. It all comes full circle.”
