Roxanne Elizardo has dedicated her life to serving others, so it’s no surprise she was honored as a Care Professional of the Month less than a year after joining Home Instead® of Collin County, where Chase and Taylor Crenwelge are the award-winning franchise owners in the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metropolitan area.
When Roxanne was 15 years old, she became a family caregiver during a challenging situation. She cared for one of her aunts, who was paralyzed from the waist down. Over the years, Roxanne also had the opportunity to care for her grandmother and father, who have all since passed away. Today, Roxanne is caring for her 99-year-old grandfather.
“Those experiences have taught me patience, compassion, understanding and the importance of treating others with dignity and respect,” Roxanne explained. “Caring for my family has made professional caregiving more than just a job to me. It has become my passion, and I find it rewarding to make a positive difference in someone’s life.”
Roxanne joined Home Instead in Plano, Texas, in November 2025, but it wasn’t her first opportunity to work for a Home Instead franchise. Roxanne previously worked for a Home Instead office in San Antonio. Reminiscing about her San Antonio job, Roxanne said: “I really enjoyed my experience with the company. I appreciated the opportunity to care for others and build meaningful relationships with people I helped.”
Roxanne added: “When I had the opportunity to work for Home Instead in Plano, I felt it was a great fit because caregiving has always been my passion. I enjoy being part of a company that values compassion, respect and making a difference in people’s lives. It has been a rewarding experience, and I enjoy caring for others.”
When revealing Roxanne’s Care Pro of the Month honor, Home Instead Care Pro Advocate Amanda Ross said: “Roxanne is a wonderful Care Pro and a great communicator who is very attentive to our clients and earns many compliments from them and their family members. She displays Home Instead’s guiding principles of ‘Build Trust, Take the Lead and Share Your Heart.’ ”
Roxanne’s professional background has always been in caregiving.
“Throughout my career,” she said, “I have dedicated myself to helping individuals with their daily needs while making sure they feel comfortable, safe and respected. I enjoy caring for others and building trusting relationships.” She pointed out: “At the risk of sounding redundant, I simply live to make a positive difference in people’s lives. During my journey, I have cultivated an even higher drive to express patience, compassion, responsibility and the importance of treating everyone with dignity. It is not just a job – it is something I truly enjoy doing.
For Roxanne, meeting new clients and listening to their stories and life experiences provides the highest form of job enjoyment. “I love hearing about their memories, families and everything they have experienced throughout their lives. I believe taking the time to listen gives them a sense of comfort, peace and companionship,” Roxanne said. “I don't see them as just clients, but as individuals who deserve kindness, respect and genuine care. Building those personal connections is what makes my job so meaningful and rewarding.”
One of Roxanne’s favorite client memories was generated by a colorful world traveler. “He shared stories about living in Italy,” Roxanne said. “He talked about what a wonderful place it was and encouraged me to visit someday if I ever had the opportunity. I really enjoyed listening to his experiences and hearing how much Italy meant to him.”
Roxanne added: “Moments like these are special to me because I get to learn about different places and experiences through my clients. It reminds me that everyone has a story to tell, and sometimes taking the time to listen can create a meaningful connection. That is one of the many reasons I love being a Care Pro.”
