Home Instead® clients in Collin County, Texas, are benefiting from Care Professional of the Month Kathy Tarrant’s long-time professional expertise in promoting active lifestyles and healthy diets. “I have always enjoyed exercising, which has included several hours daily at the gym. The application of those principles are important elements I bring into my job today with my clients. I gently advocate for beneficial lifestyles, and it’s never too late for anyone to start,” Kathy said. “The old saying of ‘use it or lose it’ is even more relevant today as we all age. I am happy to share my knowledge of eating proper nutrition and exercise with my clients.”
Kathy’s background is in sales, health and fitness. She explained: “My first job out of high school, after taking many extra health-related courses, was at a hospital. I enjoyed the one-on-one contact with my patients, but I chose to follow a different path. I went on to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, entered a beautiful 48-year marriage and raised two very busy, active boys. I was employed by Procter & Gamble for 18 years in its health and beauty division.”
About six years ago, Kathy moved from California to Texas. The transplant was eager to immerse herself in the Lone Star way of life. “I thought, ‘What better way to get to know my surroundings and the needs of my community than to venture out and get a part-time job.’ I came across a Home Instead advertisement one afternoon and made the phone call. Kelly Spawn, our office manager, picked up the call. Within the hour, I was sitting in her office for an interview. The rest, as they say, is history,” said Kathy, who has spent nearly five years with the Home Instead franchise in Plano that serves Collin County. Chase and Taylor Crenwelge have been the co-owners of the award-winning franchise since March 1, 2025.
Home Instead Care Pro Advocate Amanda Ross said: “Kathy Tarrant is so awesome! We know without a doubt that when she goes to a client, they want her to come back. Kathy embodies Home Instead’s guiding principles of ‘Build Trust, Take the Lead and Share Your Heart.’ We were thrilled to honor Kathy as our Care Pro of the Month for February. Among the considerations for achieving Care Pro of the Month status, an employee has shown she has gone above and beyond the call of duty. Empathy and compassion are taken into account for the award, as well as skill and wisdom for dealing with challenging situations.”
Kathy said: “I am humbled by receiving the franchise’s recognition. What I enjoy most about my job with Home Instead is seeing the smiles from my clients when I arrive. I have gotten to know some very kind and interesting people. I enjoy sharing my past adventures with them, and I seem to have a way of getting them to share their stories with me. It always amazes me when we find we have some interesting connection.”
Kathy added: “I love the flexibility of Home Instead’s scheduling, and I am always so pleased when a past client requests me to return to fill a time slot. Life changes quickly, and I have been fortunate to still keep in touch with some past clients whose life circumstances no longer allowed them to require Home Instead services. It really does take so little to make someone smile. That is part of Home Instead’s mission as we seek to enhance the lives of aging adults and their families, and create a care experience that’s based on human touch, empathy and compassion.”
