Mission. … Purpose. … Destiny. Gwendolyn Brown had been searching for the right job during her life’s journey, and she believes she’s found it with Home Instead® of Collin County, Texas, an award-winning franchise owned by Todd Felker. Gwendolyn confirmed: “Basically working with Home Instead to be there for my clients is my calling.”
“My story behind going to work for Home Instead is centered on my dream of helping others. I’ve always wanted to help others and be a positive influence in the lives of others. Home Instead presented me with the ability to accomplish those goals,” said Gwendolyn, who discovered Home Instead while combing the internet for a job that matched her personality.
Gwendolyn’s background includes jobs as a Certified Nursing Assistant and caregiver. In many ways, she had been equipped to handle those jobs and her Care Professional position with Home Instead because of having shepherded her brothers and sisters. “My experience as a family caregiver came from being the eldest of eight kids. Growing up, I had the responsibility of looking after my siblings while my parents were working,” Gwendolyn explained.
While announcing Gwendolyn had been honored as the franchise’s Care Pro of the Month for December, Home Instead Care Pro Advocate Amanda Ross said: “Gwendolyn has been with us for four years, and she has been with her current client for most of that time. They have a great relationship. Gwendolyn embodies Home Instead’s guiding principles of ‘Build Trust, Take the Lead and Share Your Heart.’ A Care Pro of the Month goes above and beyond the call of duty and clearly shows superior skills, wisdom, compassion, patience and empathy. Gwendolyn has all of those qualities. We’re glad she’s on our team.”
It’s easy to see how Gwendolyn feels about her job. “The companionship I have with my clients, and the smiles I put on their faces every time they see me – that’s what I like most about my job,” she said. “One of my favorite stories about my client was when we watched “A Christmas Carol” this past Christmas, and when he shared stories about his youth with me.”
For Gwendolyn and her fellow Care Pros, touching lives impacts their souls, whether they are providing physical help such as light housekeeping, meal preparation, medication reminders or personal care or if they are offering emotional support in a companionship role. Gwendolyn loves being a part of the Care Pro team for the Plano franchise, a member of a network comprised of Home Instead, Inc. and its parent company, Honor.
With the world’s largest home-care network and the most advanced care platform, Honor and Home Instead are revolutionizing care for older adults, their families and Care Pros. Combined, the network has more than 100,000 Care Pros across 13 countries, meeting the growing needs of millions of older adults and their families worldwide.
