No Challenge Is Too Big for Honored Care Pro Ola
Nearly every Home Instead® client is quick to bond with Care Professional of the Month Tawakalitu “Ola” Dabiri and happily welcomes her skilled care and companionship. However, whenever Ola is faced with a reluctant client, she is always patient and forbearing.
“Every time I arrive to work with one client, she always smiles and says, ‘Here comes Miss Olaaaaaa …!’ That gives me joy, knowing she’s happy to see me. Her family appreciates me always,” said Ola, who joined the award-winning Home Instead franchise of Midland-Odessa, Texas, in May 2024.
Another client didn’t open his arms at first for Ola or any other Care Pro. “There is a couple with whom I formerly worked. The wife needed the care because she was diagnosed with dementia. Their children wanted to help with her, but the husband did not welcome the idea. He said he could take care of his wife on his own,” Ola said.
The husband sometimes refused to open the door for any Care Pro. Ola willingly accepted the challenge, saying, “It took a lot of patience and reasoning to get him to understand I was there to help him by helping his wife and making life easier. After a while, he warmed up to me and always asked me on my way out when I would be coming back. I eventually became like family, and their children always requested me to work with their parents,” Ola recalled.
For Ola, the bottom line is:
- “Caregiving is a calling. I always try to make an impact in the lives of my clients and make them feel better.”
- “Being a Care Pro has been good and fulfilling. I was given the opportunity to do the job I love, and the team and staff are so supportive and helpful.”
- “Care Pros are acknowledged and appreciated by the office staff for all we do and encouraged to learn more so we can do more to help the clients.”
- “I have so many favorite stories because I have worked with many beautiful families.”
“Caregiving took the forefront early in my life because, when I was younger, I lived in a culture that involved having us live with our grandparents. So, from a young age, I understood how to care for the elderly and befriend them even at their lowest points,” Ola said. “I cared for my maternal grandma, and I just love to be around her when she tells stories of her younger days. She looks forward to seeing me because that is the highlight of her day,” Ola said.
Ola’s professional background includes being a seamstress, a hair stylist and caregiver. Recalling the time 18 months ago when she joined Home Instead, Ola said: “I heard about Home Instead when I had just moved from Houston to Odessa. I have experience working in a nursing home, and I wanted to try home healthcare. I looked up different agencies and their backgrounds, and I decided to apply with Home Instead.”
In November 2025, Ola was honored as Care Pro of the Month by Home Instead, a well-respected franchise owned by Lorena and William Shensky. Home Instead Engagement and Training Coordinator Rozephyr Jean said, “Ola has consistently proved to be an exceptional Care Pro. She has been instrumental in providing care for complex clients, demonstrating a unique ability to make even the most challenging situations seem effortless. Ola is highly dependable, with outstanding attendance, and she approaches her work with compassion, professionalism and a genuine heart for client care.”
Ola loves being a part of the Care Pro team for one of West Texas’ outstanding Home Instead franchises, a member of the world’s largest home-care network and the most advanced care platform. Overall, there are more than 100,000 Care Pros across 13 countries, meeting the growing needs of millions of older adults and their families worldwide. For Ola and her fellow Care Pros, touching lives impacts their souls, whether they are providing physical help such as light housekeeping, meal preparation, medication reminders or personal care or if they are offering emotional support in a companionship role.
