Home Instead® Care Professional of the Month Yolanda James Martin cares deeply for her clients because she first experienced the intense feeling of helping two people who she loved most.
“My family caregiving background has included taking care of my mother and grandmother. Those experiences cultivated a sense of an even deeper compassion and willingness to later be a good professional caregiver,” said Yolanda, an honored Care Pro at owner Greg Gomez-Mira’s award-winning Home Instead franchise that serves south-central Houston, including Bellaire, Missouri City and Sugar Land.
Yolanda added: “Even though my mother and grandmother have passed away, my assistance to them has made me want to always care for my elderly clients as if they were my parents and grandparents. My love and care for the elderly come naturally to me. At the risk of repeating myself, I want to emphasize home care has always come naturally to me.”
Yolanda found Home Instead online while searching for a second job. She joined Home Instead in October 2025, and her empathy and skills immediately caught the eye of the Home Instead staff, including General Manager Destiny Wesley, who announced Yolanda’s July honor.

By expertly doing so, Yolanda not only assists her clients, but helps their families eliminate worry, reduce stress and re-establish personal freedom.
Yolanda said: “My professional experience includes more than five years of private-duty personal care in homes and in two senior-care facilities that required extreme standards of caring for the elderly. I enjoy talking to seniors and learning what they were like in their younger days. I learn a lot from them in every aspect.”
