Caregiver Jobs Near Me: What a Real Day Looks Like in Baton Rouge

If you’re considering our caregiver job opportunities in Baton Rouge, know that the work takes place in the home of the person you’ll be assisting. As a caregiver, you may assist a client with a variety of activities of daily living. These may include, but are not limited to, assistance with meal preparation, assisting with housekeeping, transportation, and errands. Our caregivers also provide client companionship. Each client is assigned a care plan, which outlines the care and services to be provided by our caregivers.

8:00 am to noon

We understand that a potential care recipient may take some time to perform morning personal care tasks. A caregiver may help by assiting the care recipient to perform those tasks, as well as prepare a meal. Light housekeeping may also be performed.

If a client is assigned to receive care to aid in the completion of activities of daily living, and the client is able to perform some of those activities independently, it may be within the care plan for the care recipient to perform some of those tasks.

Depending on the client, a caregiver may find it necessary to guide a client to perform a task they do not wish to perform. That can certainly be the most draining part of the job.

The Care Pro must be patient and accommodate the preferences of older adults. The Pro must also identify and communicate important concerns to the home office. The Pro should not make assumptions about the older adult’s conditions and needs.

[HUMAN INPUT NEEDED: Provide one actual Care Pro shift, 8:00 a.m. to Noon, from Baton Rouge, detailing actual activities, and including an unexpected situation and the Care Pro’s response.]

Deciding to apply to be a Care Pro raises questions about whether you can accept the demands of a new routine and adapt to others’ preferences. You must also consider your ability to attain and maintain emotional and physical stamina and whether you can communicate your concerns to others.

The Care Pro Experience

Meal preparation and general housework comprise a minor portion of Care Pro work activities.

The Home Instead Care Program

Care Pros work under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse and according to established care plans to provide non-medical support to clients.

You will not be required to provide medical judgment or perform medical or nursing tasks outside your scope of training and instruction.

Although personal caregiving may require performing certain physically and emotionally demanding activities, you are not required to perform such activities as a Care Pro.

It is your responsibility to understand the tasks required for caregiving activities, and only accept assignments within your scope of practice. If you do not understand a care activity, you must contact your supervisor.

Clients and family members often have different requests than the ones outlined in your instructions.

Our care pros have a good deal of independence when working in a client’s house, and that can lead to confusing situations where care pros make decisions that are not in the best interest of a client.

We are currently hiring caregivers in Baton Rouge.

According to our current job ads, pay for these positions can range from $13 to $17.25 per hour.

We have both full-time and part-time positions available.

Because home care is customized and focused on the needs of the client, there is a great deal of variability in the work schedule of our caregivers. The recruiting office is currently trying to fill caregiver positions working early mornings, after school hours, all day, and overnight.

Because of the variability in the nature of the work and the need for coverage at all times, it is often the case that two caregivers working in the same office may be seeking assignment compatibility.

When interviewing, I am always sure to ask about assignment availability, and flexibility, to make sure it meets the needs of the office.

I am always sure to ask about client location to help alleviate concern for caregiver safety and to help balance client needs with the needs of the office.

There is a great deal of variability in the pay rate for our caregivers based on a number of different factors. Flexibility does not mean that everything is available to a caregiver all of the time.

If your work availability is very restrictive, let the office know so it can better identify the opportunities for which you are qualified.

Driving During Client Visits in Baton Rouge, Denham Springs and Zachary

Driving can be as important as client visitation in home care. This is something that many applicants don’t consider.

Home care providers working in the Baton Rouge area may work in Baton Rouge, as well as Denham Springs and Zachary. The difference between working in neighborhoods and working in communities is clear to those who work in communities. Communities mean more driving and more time between client visits.

Potential care providers need to review the routes that they will be driving.

There are multiple factors to consider. You have to decide how comfortable you are driving to certain locations. You must consider how long it will take to get there, and how many client visits will fit into that time.

Driving a great distance between visits can also consume a significant amount of your time. You may want to consider how much driving will be reimbursed.

There are many considerations to make between scheduling, driving, and the condition of your vehicle.
