The holidays are almost over, but we are so grateful to look back on another successful year of the Home Instead Be a Santa to a Senior (BASTAS) program. As we continue to provide home care in Jasper, Indiana, this season gives us an opportunity to reach out to local seniors who might otherwise be overlooked during the Christmas season.
For those who are new to our community, BASTAS is a program where we partner with local businesses and residents to fulfill the holiday wishes of local seniors. Many of our neighbors in nursing facilities don't have anyone to spend Christmas with, so our elves bring gifts and the warmth of connection to share with those older adults.
This year, we saw a TON of support. From the moment we set up the first tree, the Jasper community showed up in a big way. We could not pull this off without the local business partners and organizations.

We recently made a stop at Serenity Springs to visit with Glenna and the rest of the residents. There is nothing quite like seeing the spark of joy in a senior's eyes when they open their surprise gift.
