Caregiver Jobs in Gwinnett County: Snellville, Lilburn, Duluth and Norcross

Home Instead is hiring Care Pros to help seniors in different locations around Gwinnett County, for example Snellville, Lilburn, Duluth and Norcross. If you are considering caregiver jobs, you need to consider a few things. You need to consider the locations of the assignments, the availability of the shifts, the type of work and if the office will train you to do the work.

The location of the work is almost as important as the work itself. The work has to align with the rest of your week.

Working Near Your Home

A good thing about using a local office to find caregiver work is that you can tell them the general location of where you are willing to work.

Our Home Instead office gets many inquiries from families seeking care for their loved ones in the different communities that we serve. If you live in, or near any of the following communities, let us know when you apply.

Snellville

If Snellville is the general location where you work and live, you need to communicate this to the scheduling team when they discuss work availability with you.

Do not say “I can work anywhere.” Saying something like this will not help the team scheduled you for client work.

Being specific and communicating what you want and can work will help the office team understand your situation.

Lilburn

You need to consider how far you are willing to travel for client work and if the location works for you.

The answer to this question probably varies from person to person, depending on other commitments and the time of day.

In order to be successful with this application, you must be able to work consistently, so your focus should be on providing reliable information.

Duluth

Caregiver positions in Duluth are facility-based, and therefore may interest applicants who prefer to work in the community.

Prior experience as a caregiver is valued, as it can help to explain your experience in regard to the types of responsibilities you have performed. If you do not have experience working in a caregiver role, explain the responsibilities that you would be comfortable performing. It is also important to have a basic understanding of your role as a caregiver.

Norcross

In addition to experience, applicants must take into consideration geographical constraints, as Norcross is another location of interest.

Home Instead provides another source of employment in Norcross. This location offers an opportunity for the applicant to further understand client needs and the work that is provided in the community.

The overall theme in each location is to gain a better understanding of what the applicant means by “close to home.” Please share your thoughts on this with us.

You can also review the Home Instead service area to learn more about the communities served by the local office.

What Caregiver Shifts are Available?

Various client needs mean that caregiver shifts are always changing. The best source of what is currently available would be to contact the office to help explain the needs in the different communities and to assist with work hours that you are available to perform.

Your employment is contingent on the answers you provide during your interview to these questions:

  • Which days are you able to work?
  • Which hours are you able to work?
  • Which Gwinnett County locations are convenient for you?
  • Are there any days or times that you are unable to take client engagements?
  • How much client travel is acceptable to you?

Be specific in describing your availability.

Flexible caregiver availabilty must be coordinated with the flexible care needs of a client in order to be useful.

Which questions should you ask about pay and mileage?

You should be clear on pay and mileage policies for the engagements that you accept. Policies may vary from engagement to engagement, even if they are coordinated through the same Home Instead office.

When considering an engagement, you should ask:

  • What is the pay rate?
  • What are the requirements for this pay rate?
  • Are there additional considerations beyond the pay rate and schedule?
  • What are the policies regarding reimbursement for client travel? Are there circumstances where travel is not reimbursed?

What should you consider when evaluating engagements in Snellville vs. Norcross? What is the best way to evaluate the engagements from a business and practical perspective?

You Don’t Need Prior Knowledge To Apply To A Care Position At Home Instead

You don’t have to know the ins and outs of the caregiving profession to be qualified to apply for a Care Pro position at Home Instead.

Training is just one part of the process to prepare our Care Pros for their duties. Therefore, Care Pro applicants must also be prepared to inquire about the training opportunities that are related to the position being applied for.

When I apply for positions, I will want to know:

  • What training will I participate in to prepare me to assist clients?
  • Will I receive training to assist clients with specific tasks?
  • Who will give me the Care Plan and what will it contain?
  • To whom should I speak with if I have questions or need clarification regarding my assignment?
  • Am I expected to know anything prior to going out on a client assignment?

There are no bad questions. If you feel that you need further explanation of a task in order to perform it, then you probably need further explanation.

It is equally important to understand who to contact if a client makes a request that is outside your understanding of the Care Plan.
