Honoree Savannah Is an Immediate Hit as Care Pro

Savannah Vetere’s first try at professional senior care couldn’t have gone any better than it has. After three months on the job with Home Instead® of Clearwater, Florida, an award-winning franchise owned by Julie Castle, Savannah was selected as a Care Professional of the Month.

Home Instead Director of Care Professional Services JC Crady is not surprised. She joined the Clearwater office’s festivities for Savannah by saying, “We love celebrating our wonderful Care Pros such as Savannah!” The Home Instead staff agreed that Savannah clearly lives and breathes Home Instead’s guiding principles of “Build Trust, Take the Lead and Share Your Heart.”

A good predicator of how Savannah would handle her Care Pro position was her faithfulness and consistency when she served as family caregiver. Savannah explained: “An experience I’ve had with family caregiving would be with my dad. He had a broken back and many herniated discs, and he went in for a simple back surgery. Something went wrong, and he’s had about seven surgeries since that one. As a result, I’ve been in and out of the hospital with him every step of the way, learning new things and how to help him recover.”

Savannah noted: “I decided I wanted to get into a career helping people, so I searched job opportunities in the area and found Home Instead. I had a working background that includes working with kids, serving as a post-construction cleaner and restaurant server for seven years. The thing I like most about my Home Instead job is that I have the ability to make a positive impact on my clients by keeping them active and going forward.”

Savannah’s companionship skills are unquestionably top-notch. In addition to her empathetic nature, Savannah offers safety assurance, meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping, and transportation and errands. She also helps clients with eating, grooming, dressing, bathing, incontinence care, cognitive impairment, hospice support and mobility. Savannah’s reassurance and skilled works help clients’ families eliminate worry, reduce stress and re-establish personal freedom.

Savannah builds memories for a lifetime while working with her clients.

She explained: “I have a 90-year-old client who was showing me all her artwork she’s done over the years, mainly knitting. I thought it was the most amazing thing, and she got so excited that I was interested. Her fingers don’t work like they formerly had, so she isn’t able to do it anymore. But, as a result, she has now taught me how to knit! The smile on her face while teaching me her art was priceless.”

Savannah’s second golden memory concerns a client she serves all week. “She deals with many issues and is super down a lot. I try my best to increase her happiness,” Savannah said. “One day, I brought eye masks for us, and we were using them. It was so much fun that we laughed together. In that moment, we were just two young girls goofing around and doing self-care, It was such a good day!”

Savannah, JC, Julie and Franchise Vice President Colin Castle are proud members of a franchise network directed by Home Instead, Inc. and its parent company, Honor.
