Personalized Care, Client Bonding Drew Molly to Home Instead

Molly Sietsema, with a compassionate heart that always pulses to serve others, has provided care in many roles: as a family caregiver, as a pharmacy manager, as a resident assistant and CNA at a skilled care community and as a medical assistant in a specialist’s office. Now, as Molly strives to become a Registered Nurse, she has found fulfillment as a Care Professional at owner Michael Lammers’ Home Instead® franchise whose coverage area includes Boulder, Broomfield and northwest Adams Counties in the Colorado Flatirons.

Home Instead Recruitment and Engagement Coordinator Brenda Munro said: “Molly’s service to our clients and their families has shined so brightly that we selected Molly as our Care Pro of the Month for April. Molly has worked for us for a little more than a year and has been an outstanding Care Pro. She works full time with a variety of clients, and we routinely receive compliments about the compassionate care she provides.”

One-on-one in-home care has suited Molly. “I had worked in nursing homes. I wanted to try something new. What drew me to Home Instead was mainly the fact that you are given the opportunity to give personalized care and can form relationships with new people,” said Molly, who in February 2025 joined the award-winning Home Instead office in Louisville, Colorado.

“I had always loved taking care of people, and since I am continuing my education to become a nurse, Home Instead’s hours and scheduling flexibility were very big factors to me. While I enjoyed taking care of the multiple residents at a time at a skilled nursing facility, I could see how beneficial it would be to have that one-on-one care,” she said.

Molly recounted her days as a family caregiver. She said: “When I was younger and my father was sick, I would help with medications and comfort care. As I got older and started working in these other roles, I started helping my grandma when I was available. I was fortunate to be with her for her last few days and was able to help with her hospice care. I was very thankful that I had the knowledge and understanding of how people want to be treated.”

Molly savors the bonding that occurs with one-on-one caregiving. “My favorite part is meeting all the new people, and I love being able to form connections with clients. I love when a client and I learn we have something in common. I like knowing that by being in their homes, I am hopefully providing some form of comfort.”

She pointed out: “I thoroughly enjoy being busy, helping clean their home environments and doing whatever I can to make their lives easier. I also like that this job gives me opportunities to learn more about the nursing field and all the different challenges that come with aging.”

Molly assisted a client who was going through many medical challenges and was in pain. “Despite all of that,” Molly said, “my client still would have a smile every morning and was always so happy to see me. With the same client, I enjoyed our drives to his appointments, when he would tell me old stories about himself or the town we were in.”

She added: “I had another client who really liked old cars, and I walked with him to a car show. It was so fun to walk around and see how excited he was and how much he loved talking to me about it. Another is a client who has dementia and every time I greet her, it’s as if she remembers me. I enjoy our walks and adventures.”

The Home Instead experiences add to her unique caregiving memories that are precious to her. “I was a Walgreen’s manager for a few years before I started as a resident assistant at a skilled nursing facility. Then I became a CNA and I worked there for two years, when I got a lot of experience working with memory care and rehabilitation. I then became a medical assistant for a dermatologist. While I enjoyed that job, I didn’t enjoy doing the back-office work and wanted more time with patients. I left that job to join Home Instead,” said Molly, who found Home Instead on Indeed.com.
