Honoree Lilia: Home Instead Also Cares About Its Workers

As a CNA for five years, Lilia Hernandez already knew how to skillfully and compassionately care for the elderly. During a job search in December 2024, she was concerned most about finding an employer who would care about her. She found a home with owner Michael Lammers’ award-winning Home Instead® franchise of Boulder, Broomfield and northwest Adams Counties. It has been a great fit, so much so that Lilia was honored as Home Instead’s Care Professional of the Month for October.

“I wanted to work for Home Instead because they care about their employees, and I wanted to be able to grow professionally. Home Instead provides that opportunity for all their Care Pros,” said Lilia, who found Home Instead on Indeed.com and now has held a CNA license for the past seven years. “I’ve been with Home Instead just three months short of two years. Being a CNA in home care is more than just a job. It’s about caring for others with patience and compassion so they can stay in the comfort of their home. I cared for my father who had a stroke, so it’s important to me to give him and others the best care possible.”

She added: “What I like most about working for Home Instead is receiving support from management, supervisors and fellow Care Pros. While serving my clients, I love our conversations. I have learned about new food recipes and listened to my clients’ childhood memories.”

Recruitment and Engagement Coordinator Brenda Munro was thrilled after she and the Home Instead team hired Lilia in January 2025. “Lilia is a full-time overnight Care Pro who completely flies under the radar in terms of receiving attention for her excellent client care. I think that’s the case with overnight Care Pros because they sometimes have less interaction with clients,” Brenda said. “But that doesn’t make their work any less important.”

Lilia’s dependability is virtually unmatched. In almost two years of Home Instead service, she has called off on only three shifts. “That is amazing and says a lot about her work ethic. She’s an experienced CNA and can work with every level of her clients’ needs, including the high acuity clients who are bedbound and need a Hoyer lift to be moved. We can always count on her and have never received a complaint from a client with whom she’s been matched,” Brenda said.

Furthermore, Brenda said, Lilia embodies Home Instead’s guiding principles of “Build Trust, Take the Lead and Share Your Heart.” Lilia offers personal assistance with eating, grooming, dressing, bathing, incontinence care, cognitive impairment, hospice and mobility support. By expertly doing so, Lilia not only assists her clients, but helps their families eliminate worry, reduce stress and re-establish personal freedom.

Lilia is an important part of the Care Pro team at the Front Range franchise, a member of a network comprised of Home Instead, Inc. and its parent company, Honor. With the world’s largest home-care network and the most advanced care platform, Honor and Home Instead are not only revolutionizing care for older adults and their families, but also for their Care Pros. Combined, the network has more than 100,000 Care Pros who are meeting the growing needs of millions of older adults and their families worldwide.
