Happy, Sad Times: Jasmine’s Client Graduates From Home Care

Everyone agreed: Home Instead® Care Professional of the Month Jasmine Korte did her job well, really well. There was no question about it. Jasmine should have been thrilled with the outcome of her care for a client, but Jasmine was a bit depressed. “It was hard saying goodbye when my client was well enough to no longer require my overnight shifts,” Jasmine said. “It was a bittersweet goodbye. I’m grateful to have been able to help her and glad to have known her.”

Jasmine described her client as “such a gem.”

Jasmine recalled: “My client was the most gracious hostess and was always so genuinely happy to see me. I looked forward to working with her every shift. She had so much life experience, was more than happy to share it with me and I was honored to hear it. She had a wonderful sense of humor even though she had been very hurt, hence me being there to support her in her healing journey during the nights.”

The September Care Pro of the Month pointed out: “My client’s resilience was inspiring. While I could tell she wasn’t a fan of being cooped up and doted on, she took it with such grace. I was sad to lose her, but it was great for her. It was one of those cases of having a client who had fallen and only needed my help until she was healed enough to be self-sufficient again.”

When Jasmine joined Home Instead owner Michael Lammers’ award-winning Home Instead® franchise of Boulder, Broomfield and northwest Adams Counties in April 2026, Jasmine was specifically looking online for night shifts.

“I had been out of the official workforce since 2019, when I decided to stay home to raise my children. I had been using Instacart and other delivery services to help subsidize my income, but I wanted to find a job outside of ‘gig work.’ Overnight care seemed like a good fit for me and my family so I can work at night and care for my children during the day,” Jasmine explained.

Professionally, Jasmine hadn’t previously worked in caregiving. “I’ve been in nearly every facet of customer service since I’ve been of legal working age. I’ve worked retail at multiple stores, been a server, worked at a call center and I’d even gotten into real estate,” she explained.

As a family caregiver, Jasmine helped several family members as they aged.

“Most of them were my great-aunts. A couple of them had suffered through dementia, and others needed help with upkeep as their bodies started to deteriorate,” Jasmine said. “All had eventually gotten pneumonia and died in the hospital. I was still there for them as best I could be until they passed away. I’ve also helped multiple friends who have their own physical and mental health problems. I’ve helped them clean their homes and organize their lives so they feel more in control of their space and find peace where they once found anxiety.”

Jasmine praised Home Instead’s flexibility with its Care Pros. “I love being able to help my clients while having a schedule that works for me and my family. While the office staff does make me feel irreplaceable in my job, I'm truly irreplaceable in my family unit. Our Home Instead office staff understands my needs as a mother of school-aged children and has never once made me feel as if I must choose between being a mother and being a Care Pro.”

Recruiting and Engagement Coordinator Brenda Munro said: “Jasmine has quickly become someone we can truly count on. She is incredibly reliable and has a wonderful way with our clients. Jasmine consistently provides the kind of dependable, compassionate care that makes such a difference.”

Jasmine receives fulfillment from the relationships she has formed with her clients and their family members. “I appreciate being able to be a part of these seniors’ lives and helping them keep their dignity for as long as they can. Even if they might not remember me all the time, it’s nice to know that one more person is being treated with the respect they deserve as a human being even when their body or mind is failing them.”

She added: “I’ve seen too many vulnerable people being mistreated simply because they needed more help than the people who are supposed to be caring for them are willing to give. I’m glad to be part of the change I want to see in the world.”
