Director of Nursing

Job Details

DIRECTOR OF NURSING

Established home care agency is seeking a seasoned, full time or part time, (25 - 40 hours/week), DON, serving Essex and Union Counties for private pay clients.  The DON, under the supervision of the owners, is responsible for all clinical aspects of the company and is responsible for the general supervision and direction of all professional and paraprofessional field staff who provide services.  The ideal individual will have excellent communication skills, the ability to analyze and problem solve, and established community relationships to help with business development.  We are looking for someone who is socially engaging and a team player.

Qualifications:

1.           Graduate from an accredited college with a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in nursing or other health related field/Or an Associate's Degree with 5 years of Community Nursing experience.
2.           Must be a registered nurse in good standing, holding a current N.J License issued by the New Jersey Board of Nursing.
3.           Must have an understanding of business development and an entrepreneurial spirit.
4.           Must be familiar with NJ BON Best Practices and implementation process.

Education:

1.            Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) or ASN with 5 years Community Nursing experience.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1.           Direct all clinical services as per agency scope of practice and provide overall coordination and evaluation.
2.           Develop a community persona to help drive business development.
3.           Evaluate performance of all field staff based on care provided to client and family.
4.           Supervises all professional and non-professional staff to ensure quality service and maintenance of performance standards.
5.           Consult with the physician when necessary in order to provide and maintain safe and efficient patient care and review progress.
6.           Perform patient assessments on potential home care clients.
7.           Visit home care clients as required.
8.           Insure that all necessary documentation is completed on each case.
9.           Monitor client clinical status insuring all files meet standards as per governing regulations.
10.         Assist in the development and monitoring of company quality assurance and risk management program.
11.         Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate with the healthcare team, client and his/her family members.
12.         Adhere to standard precautions, aseptic technique and infection control guidelines.
13.         Interpret to the client and family implications of the clients’ health status.
14.         Demonstrate respect for the opinion of others.
15.         Maintain confidentiality of client assessments and records.
17.         Identify and use appropriate resources as necessary.
18.         Other duties as assigned.

Compensation Package:
Annual salary based on experience
3 weeks paid vacation

Home Instead Senior Care

Objective:

The Director of Client Services, under the supervision of the Owner, is responsible for the on-boarding and cultivation of new business and managing ongoing business. The Director of Client Services is responsible for identifying and meeting the needs of perspective, and current clients. This position is 3 days/week in the Springfield office and 2 days/week in the Teaneck office.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Fulfill the necessary requirements in the on-boarding of new clients.
  • Effectively answer all inquiries in a timely manner and document status updates in company software (Clearcare)
  • Direct all client services as per agency scope of practice and provide overall coordination and evaluation
  • Actively participate in office staff meetings and communicate updates on client activity with office staff.
  • Assist in assigning CAREGivers to client’s based on client’s Plan of Care or Service Plan
  • Orient and supervise CAREGivers on the needs of each individual client
  • Evaluate and provide feedback in performance of all CGs. Participate in discussion of Performance Evaluations of CGs.
  • Supervise CAREGivers to ensure quality service and maintenance of performance standards
  • Consult with client, client’s family and other healthcare professionals in order to provide and maintain safe and efficient client care and review progress.
  • Perform client home assessment on perspective and current home care clients
  • Visits home care clients as required.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation is completed in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with community agencies as an opportunity to develop new business
  • Maintain confidentiality of client assessments and records
  • Identify and use appropriate company and community resources for the benefit of the client.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Provide proper service recovery in a timely manner

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the CAREGiver meetings, as requested.
  • Participate in company quality assurance and risk management program, AKA Performance Quality Assurance meeting.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have an understanding of, and uphold the policies and procedures established by the company
  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to listen effectively
  • Must have the ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality of information and meet deadlines
  • Must demonstrate effective interpersonal skills as well as sound judgment and good decision-making skills
  • Must demonstrate discretion, integrity and fair-mindedness consistent with company standards, practices, policies and procedures
  • Must have the ability to organize and prioritize daily, quarterly, monthly and yearly work
  • Must have the ability to establish good working relationships with the franchise owner, office colleagues, clients and CAREGivers
  • Must present a professional appearance and demeanor
  • Must have the ability to operate office equipment
  • Must be patient and congenial on the telephone
  • Must have computer skills and be proficient in Word and Excel
  • Must have the availability to work evenings and weekends as required
  • Must have the ability to perform duties in a professional office setting
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of the senior care industry

 

Professional Requirements:

· Masters of Social Work or equivalent degree

· 5 years relevant work experience

3 weeks PTO
10 Paid holidays
Annual Salary $75,000 +
