Every year, thousands of our seniors right here in Pinellas County will not be visited by a loved one either because they have no family, or their family lives outside of the area or worse yet, their family does not visit them. Many of the seniors live at Long Term care facilities (Nursing Homes) and go without many comforts. This is where our organization, Be a Santa to a Senior of Pinellas, Inc. steps in. We focus our efforts around 3 key holidays to support the seniors of Pinellas County.

  • Mother's Day
  • Father's Day
  • Christmas

When we ask these seniors what they would like, there response is simple. They do not wish for an expensive iPad or laptop, they ask for a blanket, robe, slippers or something pretty to look at like an artificial plant. We work with the Long Term Care Facilities (Nursing Homes) to identify the seniors that do not have family, or family living nearby or family that does not visit and are in need. We concentrate on essential items such as clothing, shoes, pajamas, robes, slippers, hygiene products, and some luxury items. The facilities are unable to provide these items to the seniors and many seniors go without.

Our program brings our local seniors a little holiday joy by giving them 3-5 small gifts and a nice card. Here is an excerpt from a Thank You card I receied last year from a 90-year old woman confined to a wheelchair:

"Thank You Home Instead Senior Care for giving me my new sweater and socks. They really brighten my day and I appreciate your generosity. Yours truly, Ingrid"
