Stephen Lair - Franchise Owner

Stephen Lair - Franchise Owner

​Stephen Lair is the franchise owner of Home Instead Senior Care in Chapel Hill. He was selected as a member of the E.A. Morris Fellowship for Emerging Leaders in 2009 and has been twice chosen as one of WCHL's Hometown Hero Village Pride Award recipients. As an Eagle Scout, Stephen has always had a passion for the outdoors and is heavily involved as a leader with the local Boy Scouts of America. Stephen has served as host for a variety of local events such as the Alzheimer's Walk, the National Parkinsons Foundation's Moving Day and Wreaths Across America. Each year, he coordinates several different community service campaigns such as Mission Medicine, Salute To Senior Service and Be A Santa To A Senior. Stephen is also a highly sought after speaker, singer, emcee and auctioneer. As a local expert on aging, Stephen has made appearances on Time Warner Cable News, WCHL, UNCTV, WNCN, WCHL and iHeartradio. Recently, Stephen and his wife, Cher, made national news when the video of their gender reveal party went viral. Their story was featured on Good Morning America, Fox and Friends, The Today Show, CNN and Inside Edition to name a few. The front page story which recounted the events in the News and Observer was the third most circulated story of 2015 and the most clicked online content in the history of all McClatchy news markets. The hubbub from the video eventually landed them a guest spot on the Ellen Show in April of 2015. They have seven remarkable sons and one daughter: Jackson, Campbell, Sawyer, Houston, Shepherd, Knox, Fisher and Ruby.

Lenore Labar - Director of Client Relations

​The Director of Client Relations is the touchpoint between Home Instead Senior Care and our clients. In this role, Lenore handles the intake of new clients, provides critical input and direction regarding all aspects of their care and oversees our quality assurance programs. Originally from Louisville, Lenore earned a BS in Sports Medicine and Health Sciences from Guilford College in Greensboro. The company motto, "To us, it's personal," is especially true for Lenore as she helped care for her father and watched her mother care for her grandparents for years. She knows that our CAREGivers have the ability to be tremendous blessings to our clients and works hard to give everyone the best experience possible. In her freetime, Lenore enjoys travelling, photography and volunteering with Habitat for Humanity.​

Rachelle Wilkerson- Director of Staffing and Scheduling Services

​If there is an engine, behind the scenes, driving Home Instead Senior Care it is Rachelle. Rachelle directs all aspects of scheduling, handles much of the office logistics, manages LTCI claims, and somehow finds time to help with billing and special events. For Rachelle, there is no such thing as a work/life balance. Her life is Home Instead Senior Care and we are all better for it.

Jen Broughton - Director of Community Relations

​The Director of Community Relations carries our message of hope to the community we serve. In this role, Jen works to put our company's heart on display in everything that we do. She coordinates partnerships with local doctors, nurses, social workers, administrators and various other members of the Chapel Hill community. She is also responsible for developing our monthly service themes which give structure and purpose to the time our caregivers spend with our clients.

Kelly Gess- CAREGiver Concierge

​At Home Instead Senior Care, we are a family. As a member of that family, each CAREGiver's experience starts long before they meet their first client. As CAREGiver Concierge, Kelly is responsible for walking each talented individual through the process of becoming a Home Instead Senior Care CAREGiving professional. From interviews and references to following up after their first shift, Kelly is responsible for making sure that our values and culture are more than just words on a page.

Janicka Buchanan - Weekend Supervisor

The Weekend Supervisor is responsible for making sure that our weekend caregivers and clients receive the support they need. If a need arises on a weekend, Janicka is able to help. Janicka began her journey with us as a caregiver and works to make sure she never strays too far from the compassionate work that drew her to Home Instead Senior Care in the first place.

Tracey Ocampo- Assistant Staff Coordinator

​You'll never know where you are going to find Tracey on any given day. From caregiving, to staffing, to introducing new caregivers and their clients, to fielding phone calls on the weekend, Tracey does it all. Tracey didn't go looking for a career in eldercare but when she saw an opportunity to make a difference at Home Instead Senior Care she took it and has never looked back.

Mandy Whitt RN - Nurse Supervisor

Mandy serves as the Nurse Supervisor for Home Instead Senior Care of Chapel Hill.  With a primary responsibility of educator, she makes certain that our CAREGivers are set up with the skills and tools they need to be successful through training in our classroom-style training facility.

As nursing supervisor, she is also responsible for overseeing personal plans of care and implementation for client safety.  Mandy is very passionate about excellent healthcare and desires for our team members, clients and family members to work together to give the excellent care that all of our family members deserve. She is a graduate of Watts School of Nursing and has more than a decade of clinical experience in the triangle area.  Mandy is a lifelong resident of Durham, where she currently lives with her husband, Jeff, and 3 kids, Tyler (19), Karsyn (16), and Jordyn (8).
