To Us, It’s Personal®

Franchise owners, Eric & Angela Thomas are not unfamiliar to the issue of caring for our aging population, in fact they each have a rich history of commitment and expertise in senior care. Their journey into the world of caring for our aging population is both profound and inspiring.

Eric's extensive experience as the President and CEO of large, not-for-profit, faith-based communities laid the foundation for their mission. Throughout his career, Eric oversaw the development and expansion of various essential services. These included Independent and Assisted Living facilities, Memory Care households, Adult Day Care programs, Skilled Nursing care, Long-Term care units, and even wellness centers and chapels. Each service was thoughtfully added to meet the growing needs of their community.

Angela, equally dedicated, has worn many hats in her career. She has served as Development Director, Activities Director, and Independent Living Director. In each role, she demonstrated a profound understanding of the needs and desires of seniors, always striving to enhance their quality of life.

Their combined experiences revealed a significant gap in the care continuum: the need for personalized, in-home care. Recognizing this, Eric and Angela decided to take a bold step. They purchased and now operate their own Home Instead franchise. Their vision was clear—while facilities offer valuable services, home care provides a unique, one-on-one caregiver experience. They believe this personalized approach is key to maximizing both the quality of care and the quality of life for their clients.

The Thomases' dedication extends beyond typical care services. Their offices are committed to serving veterans, regularly billing the VA for home care benefits and continually adding new services to support these clients. Partnering with VetAssist, they ensure that veterans and surviving spouses receive the aid and attendance benefits they deserve, alongside traditional VA benefits.

Their mission doesn't stop there. Eric and Angela have worked to gain Medicaid approval from the state to better serve the low-income population, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to inclusivity and support for all seniors. Additionally, they facilitate the use of Long-Term Care Insurance for many clients, advocating for the Assignment of Benefits to simplify the process and reduce the burden on families.

Eric and Angela Thomas's journey is a testament to their passion for senior care. Their innovative approach, combining facility-based services with personalized home care, ensures that every client receives the attention and respect they deserve. Through their work, they continue to inspire and make a profound difference in the lives of the elderly in their community. An aging woman smiling as she enjoys the piano at home.

About Home Instead, Inc.

A Brief Description and History of Home Instead

Home Instead is a globally recognized provider of in-home care services for seniors, dedicated to enhancing the lives of aging adults and their families. Founded in 1994, the company has grown to become a leader in the senior care industry, offering personalized care plans that allow older adults to remain in the comfort of their own homes while receiving the assistance they need.

Founding and Growth

Home Instead was founded by Paul and Lori Hogan in Omaha, Nebraska. The inspiration for the company came from Paul's personal experience caring for his grandmother. Recognizing the need for quality, compassionate home care services that could help seniors maintain their independence, the Hogans established Home Instead with a mission to provide reliable and heartfelt care.

Initially, the company started with a single office in Omaha, but the demand for their services quickly grew. The success of their model led to rapid expansion, and Home Instead began franchising in 1995. Over the years, the franchise network has expanded significantly, with offices now located in the United States and around the world.

Services and Approach

Home Instead offers a comprehensive range of services tailored to meet the unique needs of seniors. These services include personal care (such as bathing, dressing, and grooming), companionship, meal preparation, medication reminders, and assistance with household tasks.
