CAREGiver Spotlight: Shari S

CAREGiver Shari

Shari has been with Home Instead since November 2020. She’s going on 5 months and has been filling her schedule up since day one and sharing her smile everywhere she goes. She is a very skilled caregiver and loves to help people wherever she can.

Shari has always been a people person and loves surrounding herself with others. “Knowing I can make a difference in somebody’s day is what gets me out of bed and ready to work,” said Shari. And that she does! We hear such great feedback from our clients when Shari has taken care of them. She goes above and beyond each and every time. She catches on quickly to the client’s needs and has fantastic intuition on what needs to be done. All of her clients and families seem to love her and request for her to come back.

Shari’s background points to a compassionate heart who wants to help others in need. Before she made a life in Beulah, Shari was a social worker that worked with the elderly. She was responsible for going out to individuals’ homes that needed help to see what she could do to get these elderly clients the right help they needed. That was over 10 years ago! Today she is still caring for the elderly by being a caregiver for Home Instead and providing our clients' services. She keeps a full schedule and loves every part of it. “Even though you may have the same clients throughout the week, you don’t do the same thing every day. I really like that in a job.” Shari always makes sure to build a close relationship with her clients, so much so, some of them schedule their services around Shari’s busy days to make sure they can see her. When she isn’t being a caregiver, you may find her on the Mercer County ambulance crew as one of their EMTs. She is always doing her part to care for others.

“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away” is Shari’s favorite quote. She enjoys having special moments with her clients and making sure they are always enjoying life too. She has a client that doesn’t get out of the house much and enjoys just staying home. He was talking about his farm one day and Shari was able to convince him to go for a drive and show her where his memories were from. They drove all the way out to where he had his farm and told her all sorts of stories during their drive. Next time she saw the client’s son he mentioned to Shari how thrilled his dad was about the drive. He said his face was just lit up and he was so happy telling him about the drive Shari took him on. “It’s the little things in life that mean the most” quoted Shari. She really lives by that too! She takes pride in the in-home care she provides and works hard to ensure each client’s needs, big or small, are met while in the comfort of their own home.

We are so happy to have Shari on our team and grateful for the wonderful care she provides to our clients.
