Franklin May 2021 Client & CAREGiver Spotlight - Gary M. & Dwight L.
Meet Mr. Gary M. and his Professional CAREGiver Dwight L. They are Franklin’s Client and Professional CAREGiver Spotlight team for May! Mr. Gary has led quite an interesting life, from growing up in South Korea, to serving as a mechanic for the Marines in the Vietnam war. His youth was split between South Korea and Michigan. He had quite different experiences in each of these places.
His father was a steam diesel and hydro-engineer, and that position took the whole family to South Korea. Mr. Gary’s favorite story is of how his father, a music lover, shipped a record player and amplifier to Korea, once he found out he would be moving. When the family moved back into the US in 1953, they had to leave his equipment behind, due to shipping restrictions at the time. His father was saddened by this, but one day, he opened the mail and there was his equipment! A Korean friend had found a way to work around the restrictions and send his music equipment back home!
Dwight has been Mr. Gary’s caregiver for two years and they both share a love of music. Dwight is a professional Christian songwriter and plays guitar and piano. Dwight said he knew this was a match meant to be, when he walked in to find Mr. Gary listening to classical music. They spend days talking about composers and theory. You may also find the duo listening to Big Band music in the car on their way to Chicago Express for some pizzas baked in an open oven!
Mr. Gary says, “Home Instead has been absolutely remarkable and Dwight is on top of his game.” We are certainly proud of this relationship and how they “share their hearts”. We hope Mr. Gary and Dwight continue to share their love of music for many years to come!
