Franklin June 2021 Client & CAREGiver Spotlight - Nora "Lee" H. & Mary A.
Meet Lee and Mary, Franklin’s Client and Professional CAREGiver Spotlight team for June! Me. Lee has had quite an interesting life. She grew up in Poor Valley, Virginia, surrounded by music. She played the autoharp in her father’s quartet, The Bays, and went to school with none other than June Carter Cash (Johnny Cash’s wife)! She got her first autoharp from the famous, Maybelle Carter.
When Lee’s caregiver, Mary, is there, they like to do projects together. They are currently making a book for each of Lee’s three grandchildren containing all the poems Lee has written. Lee still plays music for her living community when she can and has written an autobiography with her daughter. Mary says, “I admire Lee for not giving up. She’s positive, independent and doesn’t like to be waited on”. When asked about her caregiver, Lee says, “Well I’m afraid I’ll outlive all my caregivers because I’m only 95 and I have a long way to go!” As you can see, Ms. Lee also has a good sense of humor and is a strong lady. Ms. Lee wrote a poem for her Mary, which is shared below. We are certainly proud of this team who has now become family. We hope they continue to “Share Their Hearts” for many years to come!

God is so good to me.
He gives me the person I need to help me.
When she says “Good Morning Lee, “
Then It’s a good morning indeed.
She starts my day with our routine:
My meds, coffee, shower, and clothes.
She does my laundry-I always have plenty!
She makes my bed-which I mess up every night.
She is my eyes, ears, and feet.
She is my angel on earth!
She is good to everyone she meets that needs help.
And she is ALWAYS so good to me.
I am so thankful for her.
She is a blessing.
