No Challenge Is Too Big for Perla

Award-winner Perla Villegas is one of her Home Instead®  franchise’s key CAREGivers when the most challenging situations arise.

Home Instead Assistant Administrator and Recruitment and Engagement Coordinator Imelda Hawkins said: “Perla’s certification as a CNA has allowed her to meet the demands of one of our specialized clients who is very limited in mobility because of multiple sclerosis and requires Perla to utilize her CNA knowledge and her compassionate heart. Furthermore, Perla gained the client’s trust by her proven reliability.”

Multiple sclerosis is a disease in which the immune system eats away at the nerves’ protective covering. The resulting damage disrupts communication between the brain and the body. MS causes many different symptoms, including vision loss, pain, fatigue and impaired coordination that impacts mobility. The symptoms, severity and duration can vary. Some people may be symptom free most of their lives; others can have severe chronic symptoms that never go away.

“My most heart-warming Home Instead story would be the fact that I have gotten so attached to my client. Knowing my client’s needs and doing my best to make him happy always makes me happy,” said Perla, who earned a Nursing Assistant degree in 2017 from Mesalands Community College in Tucumcari, New Mexico.

While announcing Perla had been honored as the December CAREGiver of the Month at Home Instead of Midland-Odessa, Imelda said: “Perla is one of the sweetest persons you will ever meet. Her smile just assures you that ‘all will be OK!’ We are definitely grateful Perla is a part of our Home Instead family!”

Among the considerations for achieving CAREGiver of the Month status, an employee has shown he or she has gone above and beyond the call of duty, Imelda pointed out. Empathy and compassion are taken into account for the award, as well as skill and wisdom for dealing with challenging situations, Imelda emphasized. Perla embodies Home Instead’s guiding principles of  “Build Trust, Take the Lead and Share Your Heart.”

On March 2, 2021, Perla joined the award-winning Home Instead franchise owned by Lorena and William Shensky. Perla is happy to be a part of an all-star team at Home Instead, which was honored as a Gold Level Member of the Midland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce on Oct. 26, 2021. The franchise is a member of a highly successful network founded in 1994. The network is the world’s leading provider of in-home care services for older adults, with more than 1,200 independently owned and operated franchises that provide care throughout the United States and 13 other countries.

Home Instead contacted me at exactly the same time when I was looking for a CNA job. My experiences working for this company have been great so far. What I like most is being able to help others,” said Perla, who is among more than 100,000 CAREGivers worldwide. She has helped add to those numbers because of her strong belief in Home Instead’s purpose. Perla also strongly agrees with Home Instead’s core values: Honor God in all we do; Treat each other with dignity and respect; Encourage growth in ourselves and others; Build value in our service to others.”
