Meet Our Home Care Team

Lorena Shensky MSN, APRN, FNP-BC, Franchise Owner
Lorena’s passion for providing care to seniors initially stemmed from experiencing her grandmother suffer from Dementia, and her family’s struggle with finding reliable, quality care for her at home. This experience was what led her to pursue a Bachelor’s in Healthcare Administration followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UT Pan-American. After graduation, she moved to San Antonio, Texas where she began her career as a floor nurse at a transplant hospital, before becoming a hospice nurse in 2017. Throughout her career as a registered nurse, and especially as a hospice nurse, she witnessed the “gap in care” for many seniors living at home, as well as the strain and stress placed on family members serving as primary caregivers. “I wanted to help seniors live as independently and for as long as possible, in the comfort of their own home”. Through daily conversations with her fiancé and now husband William, regarding the many difficulties and frustrations she experienced working as a hospice nurse, Lorena recognized her desire to provide home care to seniors. That drive was what led them to pursue Home Instead in Midland in order to provide valuable care assistance to West Texas residents. Lorena continued to expand her education in nursing and is now a Family Nurse Practitioner. Her ultimate goal is to continue servicing the West Texas community by providing compassionate, quality care.

William Shensky, Franchise Owner

Alberto Serrano, General Manager
Al, a Texas Tech Red Raider, comes to us with 20 years of management experience in the Telecom world. He is married and a father, a sports enthusiast, handyman, and TV addict. His passion is observing and getting to know people from all walks of life. His favorite saying is, “Don’t sweat the petty things, and don’t pet the sweaty things.”
Taylor Keller, LVN, Client Care Coordinator

Imelda Hawkins, Recruitment & Engagement Coordinator
I joined Home Instead in 2014 as a Care Professional, and I honestly think it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Caregiving has taught me patience, and a special kind of love for the elderly. After working for ECISD, and marketing for Sitel Corporation and CGS for years, this was definitely more fulfilling to me both mentally and spiritually. In June 2016, I became a part of the office staff as a Recruitment & Engagement Coordinator. I am so lucky to work for such caring owners that have really made me feel welcome. I can’t think of a better job where I can fulfill a person’s life by providing them with a caregiver that can bring a smile to their face.

Alma Teagle, CNA, Service Coordinator II
Alma joined our team as a Car Professional in 2019. She began with private caregiving in 2013, and that is when she found her passion! Alma became a Certified Nursing Assistant in 2017 and has been enriching the lives of seniors full-time ever since. Alma is now the Service Coordinator and leads our caregivers in advancing their skills and training to be the best caregivers for our seniors! Alma’s knowledge of our client’s needs and our Care Pros' strengths makes her the perfect “matchmaker”. She understands the subtleties of everyone’s personalities which allows us to provide personalized care to seniors and peace of mind to their loved ones. “Joining the Home Instead Team has been both rewarding and fulfilling. Seeing the smile on our seniors' faces just melts my heart!”

Shelbi Deleon, Service Coordinator I
Shelbi joined Home Instead in 2014, as a Care Professional, however, she knew that she wanted to provide care for seniors and families at an early age. Shelbi comes from a large close-knit family; everyone is supportive of each other. Shelbi remembers when her grandfather’s health took a turn for the worse, and the difficulty in attempting to find reliable, compassionate, and knowledgeable care to help her grandfather live as independently as possible. Shelbi recalls how her passion for helping Home Instead Seniors grew as time went on. “The rewards of seeing our seniors’ smile are very heartfelt, it is fulfilling both mentally and spiritually”. Shelbi feels incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to care for many Home Instead clients, essentially “becoming part of the family”’, for many of them. She is grateful that she not only assisted many seniors with activities of daily living but also provided peace of mind and comfort to many family members.
In April 2021, due to Shelbi’s outstanding performance as a care pro and consistent dedication to Home Instead, she was promoted to Office Coordinator. Shelbi is excited and enthusiastic to serve clients and families in another way while expanding her career skill set. “I want to make things easy and stress-free for families, I am truly blessed to work for such an amazing company. The Home Instead owners have always made me feel welcomed and understand the importance of quality care”.
Samantha Carpenter, Client Care Assistant-Field Coordinator
“Sam” joined Home Instead in 2020 as a part-time Care Professional and quickly realized that this was her childhood dream. When Sam was a child, her great-grandmother moved in when she could no longer care for herself. Samantha took great enjoyment in helping her daily and learned the core values that she cherishes to this day. Samantha quickly realized that caring for others was her calling. She resigned from her current role at the time to dedicate herself to providing compassionate care to Home Instead individuals in need of assistance, she has not regretted a minute of it! Sam brings her quality care experience with her in her new administrative role. Sam’s experience in caring for higher-level of care clients such as specialized and advanced dementia clients has helped her empathize and understand care professionals’ and clients’ needs instinctively. “I work with wonderful, caring, and enthusiastic key players, I am now serving seniors differently on an administrative level and have the ability to greater impact the lives of both our Care Pros and clients.”

Nancy Ervin, Office Coordinator
Nancy comes to Home Instead with years of experience working with people of all ages. She has worked as an executive administrative assistant, medical technician, direct sales director, music teacher, Bible study teacher, and musician. She is married with three children and four grandchildren, and one on the way. Her personality gifts are hospitality and encouragement.
