Client Has No Family, So Marsha Is Happy to Fill the Role

With Care Professionals such as Marsha Lopez, Home Instead® of Midland-Odessa has successfully extended its award-winning caregiving reach 112 miles to the southeast from the Petroplex to San Angelo, Texas. Marsha, a San Angelo resident, is a shining example of what top-notch professional senior care looks like.

“Marsha is our Care Pro of the Month for March, and she has been with us for less than a year, taking her position in May 2023,” said Imelda Hawkins, the human resources director, assistant administrator, and recruitment and engagement coordinator for Home Instead of Midland-Odessa. Lorena and William Shensky are the Home Instead franchise co-owners.

“San Angelo is about a two-hour drive from Midland. Marsha is fulfilling the needs of a San Angelo client who has no family, so Marsha fills that void for him in addition to the other vital elements of caregiving that he requires. She quite often goes above and beyond the call of duty for him. Empathy and compassion are so important.”

Imelda added: “One of the aspects of Marsha’s care for her client speaks volumes about Marsha’s character and compassionate personality. Marsha is willing to rearrange her schedule to accommodate his many hospital releases so he has transportation to his home.”

Imelda also explained: “When Marsha is not gracefully sharing her heart with our senior, she enjoys spending time with her family and taking walks. When the weather is nice, she swims. We are blessed beyond measure that Marsha is a part of our San Angelo team!”

Marsha joined the Home Instead team after learning about the franchise by word of mouth. “I was referred to Home Instead by an attorney’s secretary who thought I’d be a perfect fit for this type of work and the company,” Marsha said. “My professional caregiving background includes more than 10 years of experience, and I enjoy doing what I do.”

Marsha “lives” caregiving on nearly a 24/7 basis. “I’ve had experience in this kind of responsibilities as a family caregiver by caring for a grandparent and a disabled aunt. I’m also currently a full-time caregiver for both of my kids, especially my oldest child who has a learning disability,” Marsha said.

“What I like most about my job is being able to help others and seeing that the clients are appreciative. “My favorite story is that every morning I walk into my client’s home, he’s happy to see me!” For Marsha, touching lives impacts her soul, whether she is providing physical help such as light housekeeping, meal preparation, medication reminders or personal care or if she is offering emotional support in a companionship role.

Marsha is a part of the Care Pro team for a franchise that is a member of a network comprised of Home Instead, Inc. and its parent company, Honor. With the world’s largest home-care network and the most advanced care platform, Honor and Home Instead are revolutionizing care for older adults, their families and Care Pros. The network has more than 100,000 Care Pros across 13 countries, meeting the growing needs of millions of older adults and their families worldwide.
