Meet Our Team

David Wert, Franchise Owner
David is originally from Stamford, CT. He went to Boston College and fell in love with the Boston area very quickly. As soon as he met a Home Instead Franchisee from Michigan in 2006 he knew this was a great service for families with aging relatives and that it was the right business for him. He is responsible for making sure that families that use Home Instead get the nicest caregivers of any agency around. His secret is that he and his staff spend a lot of time meeting potential caregivers each week so that they can select only the cream of the crop. He always says: "if we have great caregivers this is an easy business to run. If we don't it makes for a rough ride." That is why we spend so much time making sure we get the staffing end perfect. His goal each day is to hire the best caregivers in the Boston area and personally match them with nice clients. Check out our client testimonials to see what clients are saying about our caregivers. David lives in downtown Boston with his wife and two children.

Casandra Handorff, Client Care Manager
Casandra grew up on the south shore of Massachusetts and has lived in Jamaica Plain for about 8 years now. She has worked for Home Instead since February 2011. Casandra has many years of direct caregiving experience in both facilities and home care, and although she primarily works in the office now, she will gladly help out with client care when needed. Casandra studied nursing and psychology at University of Massachusetts Boston. As the Client Care Manager , she has a variety of responsibilities including: meeting with and speaking with clients, caregivers and families every day to see how things are going, hiring and training caregivers, billing, staffing and scheduling, after hours phone on-call, and whatever else you may need her for.

Alicia Van Cott, Operations Manager
Originally from Brooklyn, NY - Alicia has both a medical and a business background. She has been with Home Instead since the beginning and makes sure the business runs smoothly behind the scenes. She lives in Boston with her family.
