Lead Caregiver in Lawrence Area - Job Description:

Home Instead is looking for compassionate and dedicated caregivers to provide a variety of services to seniors in their homes. We are hiring full-time care professionals to service Douglas County and the surrounding areas, starting at $16.00 per hour.

Pay: $16.00 per hour plus bonus opportunity.

Job Duties:

  • Must be able to work a full-time schedule of a minimum of 32 hours a week, up to and including overtime.
  • Must have availability weekdays Monday through Friday ranging from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Average workday is typically 7 hours in length) and 4 Saturdays / Sundays a month.
  • Must have reliable transportation, possess a valid driver’s license, and possess valid auto insurance. Meet Home Instead’s requirements to be a driving Care Pro
  • Travel throughout the entirety of Douglas County coverage area which includes Lawrence, Baldwin City, Linwood, Eudora, etc. Extra pay to travel outside the county. This may include Ottawa (in Franklin County) and Leavenworth County.
  • Proficient utilization of technology systems including a Mobile App.
  • Must perform on-call shifts as scheduled.
  • Perform Care Professionals to client introductions as scheduled. Perform client assessments as needed.
  • Ability to work on designated holidays. Pay rate at time and half.
  • Ability to communicate on a weekly basis with immediate supervisor.
  • Ability to lift, push or pull a maximum of 25 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, twist, stoop, kneel and reach.
  • Complete a criminal background check, DMV check, pre-employment drug screen, and reference checks.
  • Ability to withstand exposure to dust, mold, mildew and cleaning solutions.
  • Ability to treat and care for clients and their property with dignity and respect.
  • Ability to adapt to various living environments and locations.
  • Ability to communicate with clients in a friendly and congenial manner.
  • Must adhere to wearing masks and other personal protective equipment as required.
  • Light housekeeping tasks, companionship, personal care such as bathing and grooming, mobility assistance, and dementia care.

Caregiver Requirements:

Education: High school or equivalent education (Preferred)

Experience: Caregiving: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification: Valid Driver's License

Work Location: Care Professional duties performed at the client’s home. Some in-office training as needed.

3 years of driving history; Reliable and insured transportation.

Motor vehicle, criminal background checks, and drug screening are required.

Bilingual Spanish and English are helpful, but not required.
