The On-Call Specialist is expected to perform a variety of on-call duties, primarily monitoring CAREGiver services and appropriate staffing and productivity over the weekend hours. The weekend on-call shift begins when the office closes on Friday prior to the weekend, and ends when the office opens on Monday morning. You may be free to do other activities while on-call, and will be paid a guaranteed minimum number of hours plus a bonus. You will be expected to work 2 weekends per month.

You will be provided with an on-call phone, iPad, on-call notebook and other resources to perform your duties.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Reflect the core values of MD Services, Inc. (d.b.a. an independently owned and operated Home Instead Senior Care franchise)
  • Arrive at the Home Instead office at 2:30 p.m. on Friday prior to start of on-call weekend to:
    • Review the weekend schedule with designated Office Staff and become aware of any potential trouble spots that might arise.
    • Obtain resources needed for on-call responsibilities (on-call notebook, on-call phone, CAREGiver roster, etc.) along with any forms and paper resources deemed necessary
  • During the weekend (4pm Friday to 8am Monday):
    • Answer each incoming call in a friendly, professional, and knowledgeable manner and respond quickly to their needs. Document all calls and work activity in on-call notebook and record time worked.
    • Monitor ClearCare to ensure CAREGivers are at their shift.
    • Monitor calls and/or text messages from our answering services
    • Ensure voicemail, email and text messages on the on-call phone are monitored
    • Field CAREGiver and client questions regarding shift times, schedule changes, etc.
    • Communicate changes in client shifts to the Client(s) and CAREGiver(s). Update ClearCare with any changes.
    • Field new client inquiries (Service Inquiries) in a professional and knowledgeable manner. Gather client information and complete the Service Inquiry Form, schedule a Care Consultation as soon as the client is available to meet (and be prepared to conduct the Consult. Note: this is infrequent on weekends, but is a possibility.)
    • Field CAREGiver employment inquiries over the phone in a professional and knowledgeable manner, instructing applicants how to apply for a position.
    • Contact backup person when questions arise about clients or CAREGivers that require their input
    • Fill in on assignments that come open until a replacement CAREGiver is found
    • Communicate client and CAREGiver concerns or problems with designated key player (and/or owner).
    • Monitor and document client and CAREGiver activity in On-Call notes
  • Arrive at the Home Instead office at 8:30 a.m. Monday morning to:
    • Return resources—phone, on-call notes, service inquiry forms, timesheet
    • Meet with Office Staff to provide an overview of the weekend activity. Provide email summary of activities.
  • Applicant must have a driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Scheduling experience PREFERRED
  • ClearCare system experience PREFERRED
